Hello. Happy Memorial Day 2023! Did you do anything special for the holiday?

I didn't. It was just another day off for me.

We had Whitsun off yesterday.

You really, really need to look up Memorial Day. It's not a holiday. it's a day of remembrance of the US war dead.

Day off? From what? You’ve told us you’re not employed.

Furthermore, Memorial Day is a solemn day whose original name was
Remembrance Day. It commemorated (by Britain) in World War I those who lost their lives. It was Ssoon adopted by the USA.

Remembrance Sunday is still that over here. It's the Sunday closest to Armistice.

The kids are on holiday the week, it's Whitsuntide, our Spring Break, it's much too chilly before now.

It's supposed to be when Christ ascended to Heaven.
