where to keep and how to store them to remain fresh longer?

Nuts contain oil which can and do go rancid, so store them in a jar or other closed container in the freezer until needed.

How many raw peanuts do you have knocking about right now?
I only ever see them at Christmas.

Freeze them in carbonite. Works for Boba Fett. It should work for you.

I have a jar I use for cooking Thai and for baking. I also have walnuts, pine nuts, pecans and pistachios.
