If Bernie gets through this OK, I'll reag Hofstader's damn book !!

LOL.......I'm going to quote you to this, george, as I'm sure Bernie will too. I've copied it, so I have proof. That was a wonderful "best wishes."

Bernie's doing well.......if a little worried about tomorrow. But the procedure is in the morning, if someone with a more acute condition than his doesn't arrive first. In any case, he'll feel much better soon. Probably better than he has in a long time.

Deb, yes it appears to have been angina. They've been checking his blood enzymes all day and will check again tonight before he goes to sleep. So far, no heart damage is indicated. And that's very good.

Mostly now he's depressed from no cigarettes (he's offering anyone a $1,000. if they'll bring him one, but he's just kidding). This time he really means it I feel convinced. And he a little worried about tomorrow. Yesterday, as he passed me in the hallway to his ICU room he announced as loudly as he could that they had cut off his penis. But of course, they didn't..........I'll let you all know.

He enjoyed the notes from everyone today when I read them to him. And I know he'll be delighted to learn of george's commitment to read Hofsteader and Kicky's offer to allow another sweet kiss on the......what was it, Kicky, if not the lips?

It's interesting Farmerman. Berine didn't have dental work, but I know that a retrovalve disorder can be provoked by dental surgery if anti-biotics are not also given at the same time.

I'll let you all know tomorrow. Soon he'll be better and we'll all be able to shake our heads and wonder how someone can be so loveable and yet so stubborn at the same time. And he's a naughty little procrastinator too.

Very nice talking to you today Bear.

and a pleasure to speak with you Miss Lola. Give Bernie my best, although I know you don't believe I will still say a prayer for him. It can't hurt, right?

Actually, Bernie forbids prayer for him. He announced that I wasn't allowed to pray for him loudly in the ER but no one knew why that was so especially funny. It turned into a private joke between us. But Bear, you and just shut your eyes and click your heals together three time and wish as hard as you can.

Prayer can't hurt, so I told Bernie that I gave everyone permission to do whatever it is they do......not that anyone needed my permission........

Thanks Mac, we appreciate your best wishes.......and those of everyone.

He forbids prayer, huh? In that case I will say another one for him. And if he doesn't like it, he can just come to Tulsa and tell me so himself. So there.

Hmph.

I'm quite happy that I'm on guard now, since all (most) of you are asleep.

I remember that two of my students at university were practising devil's worshippers, a former collegue is leading the communist party in our county - I'll contact them to get there assistance instead of my prayers.

<And since Mrs Walter got aware of this thread as well - besides sending her wishes she asked me if I needed a similar situation to stop smoking.>

Lola, Bernie forbids prayer?

Then I guess the ancient american indian sanskrit healing chant for heart attacks out of the question then?

Jerry Fallwell will be devastated also! <poor man>

Oh thanks, Lola, because I do believe in prayer and it definitely can't hurt. (Just don't tell Bernie I did that.) All the positive vibes from whatever source, however, do have a good effect I think.

I'm nursing a hubby back from prostate surgery this week and that's no picnic either, but reassure Bernie that the procedure he will have tomorrow will be neither that extreme or that scary. His penis will be just fine. Quitting smoking when you don't want to really sucks, but he'll appreciate the benefits and rewards of quitting if he can do it.

Tell him to get well or I'll call him up and read Horowitz to him. Smile

That's good to hear. I must confess that I'm still startled. Just a short time ago we were sitting on the beach, chatting, breeding a pair of really bad sunburns together. One week later -- this. Please tell Bernie I expect to get another pair of sunburns with him next summer, and if he isn't around to do it I'll be seriously pissed.

I just found this thread. Terribly shocked at the early news, but very relieved that Blatham is now on the mend.
Phew! What a fright! Shocked
Get well soon, Blatham, you're sorely missed around here. Very Happy

You'll both be in my thoughts, today. Particularly you, Lola. Bernie will be asleep and you'll be trying to insert the stents from outside the OR without an instruction manual.

I'll just call it healing thoughts and good vibes then....as St. John said in one of his many revelations "Whatever gets you through the night"

As one who also stumbles in only occasionally to this forum anymore, please give our best wishes to Bern on a speedy recovery, Lola. (We only had the Dallas cell #...)

My father, 76, had five bypasses done two months ago when he finally decide to complain about his symptoms. He's doing quite well, all considered.

I expect no less of the Mountie.
