Arguable to be successful in owning and operating a business, you need some smarts. Foolish people tend to get eaten up in business. You need to know whom to trust, or you become a victim.
So, do independent businessmen tend to support Trump?

I imagine there are plenty who do and plenty who don't, but it's not because they trust him or not since most have not met him. It's more the policies they think he will push.
However, Trump and his businesses have a long history of stiffing small businesses and making them take him to court. This was all over the news prior to the 2016 election. Here is
