Painting honest opinions?

I was lucky enough to get this painting from my Papa as he passed away last year. It always caught my eye as a child. I know it’s a Scottish artist but couldn’t find out much more on Google.

I’m no art expert, so was just wondering what people thought and curious if it would have any value?

Thanks for any feedback.

@chriscox2104,
Can't find anything on the painter. The painting is definitely fine art. The framing and everything looks good. The canvass is linen. Very nice.

It's got to be worth $1,500 - $2,000. It's a very nice painting. There will be high end decorators that will love it.

You might want to see if you can find the artist in Scot artists database. Maybe a Royal Art School student rosters.

@Yalow,
Perhaps take a stab at e-mailing a couple contemporary art galleries or even to a public gallery/museum.

@chriscox2104,
Okay so you have to look and see if there is an artist signature. So you might have to open up the frame ( carefully ) sometimes the frame is done by the artist themselves. A lot of these pieces of art have a an entire history going back.

Some of these people were ex-military, to somebodies wives, or even children prodigies lost in time, to commissions done for etc reasons. Lost dreams, wants, hopes, outlook on life, etc.

So if you can research the artist firs that would be ideal.

Finding out who the original artist is
Finding out when it was made.
What kind of material was it made on
What kind of paint ( acylic, oil, water colors, etc ) was used.

That being said beyond that to get it appraised you need to go to a specialist.

I will be honest, I use a computer and have blockers up. I prefer to keep out facebook, google, yahoo, out of my system. So in the future please upload to a regular server like a free internet host, because it is painstaking for me to have to find a browser just to open the links.
