Someone asked my favorite 5 movies. Getting down to 10 wasn't that hard. Getting to 5 was extremely hard. I had to discard movies I adore. I surprised myself with some of the trade-offs I made. Here they are alphabetically:
"The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly"
"Highlander"
"North by Northwest"
"Rio Bravo"
"The Time Machine (1960 version)"
@Brandon9000,
Ha! I was going to start a thread on fave movies, so thanks. These are movies I'd see again:
The Shiralee
Babette's Feast
Aurevoir Les Enfants and it's sequel
Manon of the Spring
Margaret's Museum
The Grizzly's
I don't care for most mainstream movies and love foreign films, as you can tell.
These are the ones I can think of right now. All right, 6. I'm stopping now before I add more. Four of them are war movies or take place during war or are anti-war.
Jojo Rabbit
2001: a Space Odyssey
Forest Gump
The Sound of Music
Catch 22
Saving Private Ryan

The Fountain.
There's a rumor that a better director's cut of The Fountain that will likely never see the light of day. I loved the theatrical release. But I would love to see Darren Aronofsky's untampered vision.
The Hunger Games
Raw
Hard Candy
Night Train (2009)
Braid
Funny how answers can change over time. I’m making myself limit to 5.
Far From the Madding Crowd (1967)
Remains of the Day
Man on Fire
Fight Club
Hawaii
@AGirlNamedSam,
Though I haven't seen either Raw or Titane, have you seen Julia Ducournau's sophomore effort, Titane? It's a critical darling and likely will gain cult status.
@tsarstepan,
No, I haven't seen Titane yet, but I definitely want to.
The Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner
Big Deal on Madonna Street
Hell Drivers
The Sting
Rififi
@Mame,
I love 'Babette's Feast'!
@hightor,
Wasn't that a terrific movie? Surprise ending
In Vancouver, there was a restaurant across from the theatre where it was being shown which offered a mini Babette's feast after the movie - what a great idea.
Au revoir les enfants and Manon of the Spring also have surprises. Wonderful films.
Hmm....
Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Dracula (version with Gary Oldman)
The Fugitive
Stalag 17
Planet of the Apes
Could swap out Rear Window or Schindler's List for The Fugitive
@jespah,
I've watched Stalag 17 a dozen times.

I've been trying to convince the YouTube reactors to do "Stalag 17" for years, but they don't. I suspect their reasoning is like, "Why's this old guy recommending a movie that no one ever heard of?" It's hard to convince people who've never seen a movie older than "Star Wars - A New Hope" that an older movies is good.
@Brandon9000,
S17 is a fantastic movie and there's a lot to it!
Most of my favorites are very old. I don't like many new films that I've sampled.
