for ice cream.
So I bought an ice cream maker.
Here's my favoirte recipe so far:
Lemon Buttermilk Ice Cream
2 cups superfine sugar (or regular granulated if your too lazy, like me)
1 quart buttermilk
1/8 tsp salt
Grate off about 2 T. lemon zest then juice the lemons till you have 1/2 cup juice.
Dissolve the sugar in the juice, add zests and buttermilk.
Chill for a bit (4 hours or so)
Freeze.
Eat and enjoy!
I added a little extra juice because I like tart things so my ice cream came out a little bit slurpy -- but way tangy!
Do you have a cool, kind of unusual ice cream recipe to share with me?
Thanks!
Now, remember "A rat in the house might eat the ice cream."
If you're going to make me do sums you're not invited, roger.
Otherwise, you and little k head on over.
Call me lazy but I prefer to go down the road a ways and just purchase 3 or 4 cases of Ben & Jerrys. Truthfully I never did get the hang of making ice cream myself, no patience. Lack of patience means I keep checking to see if it's ready which means continually sampling and so in the end... well, you get the picture.
I'm a patient girl who lives with ice cream vultures so yes, I DO get the picture.
Store bought ice cream can certainly be a worthwhile option.
(And now I don't feel so lazy about not rushing out for super-fine sugar! Thanks, Sturgis!)
We all scream cause we got ice cream headaches.
