@Builder,
Italy buys Russian oil, France buys it, Germany buys it too.
All these countries are west of Russia.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that Germany was going to completely abandon oil imports from Russia. and noted that this can be done very quickly. (Will probably finally happen when the oil has to be paid in roubles, I think.)

HUMILIATED: Trump cries “fake news” as reports of his diminutive rally crowd go viral

Quote:
If the definition of insanity is someone who continues to expect to get results from actions that have repeatedly led to failure, then Donald Trump’s latest political rallies should be enough to help him present a credible insanity defense against any of the many charges he may yet to be faced with.

Trump’s latest rally, held in the appropriately named Commerce, Georgia last night, proves that the novelty of these neo-fascist assemblies is wearing thin, even among the Trump faithful.

Georgia Public Broadcasting political reporter Stephen Fowler was at the rally and reported truthfully on both the size and the waning enthusiasm of the crowd that still turns out for the twice-impeached former president in a series of tweets that were so disturbing to Trump’s ego that he felt compelled to have his public relations team spend all morning attacking Fowler’s reports as — you guessed it — “fake news.”

Take a look at Fowler’s tweets — sent as he was at the rally — and the response from the surrogate Trump Twitter account run by his press representative, Liz Harrington.

“If Brian Kemp is renominated, he will go down in flames at the ballot box” Trump says, which could very well be true if Trump keeps torpedoing him and pushing lies about election results. #gapol pic.twitter.com/5STBgCd5Hm

That’s a wrap.

Story in the morning, but by the end it seemed Trump’s most loyal fans weren’t as interested in what he had to say – let alone the seven candidates he was here to support.

This was our view on the way out as he was still speaking. pic.twitter.com/ZCihDAtTSk

One would think that with such compelling first-hand reporting combined with the visual evidence presented in the accompanying photos, it would be difficult for the Trump team to refute such plain truth regarding the disappointing attendance at the rally.

Don’t underestimate the magnitude of Trump’s hubris and his ability to crop photos to support his own contrary narrative of the event.

FAKE NEWS!

Massive crowd in Georgia last night, with estimates between 25,000 and 35,000 people.

Fake news @stphnfwlr doesn't know what he's talking about! pic.twitter.com/RoHz86Xyz6

— Liz Harrington (@realLizUSA) March 27, 2022

The intensity of Trump’s rage over the relative failure of his latest gathering of his deplorable tribe can be imputed by the sheer number of attempts to bend the truth into something more to his own liking as evidenced by the sheer number of social media posts that Harrington was compelled to issue to try to make the former president’s false version of reality stick, including at least two “official” press releases.

NEW!

President Donald J. Trump:

“Massive crowd last night in Georgia even despite the cold weather, the enthusiasm was unbelievable. David Perdue, running against horrendous Governor Brian Kemp, who let the Election be Rigged and Stolen, is seeing a very big surge. Will be…” pic.twitter.com/GTr7vYSTv3

— Liz Harrington (@realLizUSA) March 27, 2022

From the fracture syntax and capitalization, it seems likely that Trump himself wrote that elementary school-level press release, but apparently, one statement was not enough to vent his fury.

NEW!

President Donald J. Trump:

“We had a massive crowd last night in Georgia, but as usual, the Fake News Media absolutely refuses to show it. People are estimating 25,000 to 35,000 people, but our record so far is Texas with 87,000 people with 50,000 being turned away… pic.twitter.com/LcwEvEEkGo

— Liz Harrington (@realLizUSA) March 27, 2022

“This is really fun!”?!?! For whom exactly?

Even those two gems of a response were not enough for Trump. Harrington was back at swatting away factual analysis of the rally’s crowd size within an hour.

25k-35k is “anemic” 🙄

Fake news! https://t.co/a356LHm21D pic.twitter.com/hVBQRLwB5l

— Liz Harrington (@realLizUSA) March 27, 2022

With diminishing thrills from the predictable litany of grievances that Trump trots out at every opportunity, his appeal even to his most die-hard supporters grows ever smaller. Trump’s repertoire has grown so stale and overused, that he must make ever more outrageous statements to even register at this point.

He can go on with his macho posturing about how he would simply nuke Putin if he were still in office — the kind of incendiary suggestion of mutually-assured planetary nuclear destruction that led Barry Goldwater to the dustbins of history during that right-wing Republican extremist’s campaign for president in 1964 — and no one will even blink an eyelash at this point.

Public Notice‘s Aaron Rupar noted the diminishing effectiveness of Trump’s extremist rhetoric in his thread covering the substance of Trump’s typically outrageous rally speech, citing public fatigue with his bombastic norm-shattering.

it's kinda wild that the former president can hold rallies where he attacks governors of his own party for not helping his coup attempt — and it doesn't even really register as a news story because we're numb to this stuff now pic.twitter.com/wP9r1nKjqH

— Aaron Rupar (@atrupar) March 27, 2022

You can check out Rupar’s Twitter feed for a fine selection of appalling excerpts from Trump’s speech last night, but rest assured that there’s nothing there that you haven’t heard before.

Trump may have built his political career on the novelty of his outrageous boorishness, but now he risks irrelevance on account of his predictable boringness.

There’s a reason that circus doesn’t come to town every day.

People’s Convoy Gives Up, Will Leave D.C. After 3 Weeks of Doing Absolutely Nothing

Quote:
Three weeks after the so-called “People’s Convoy” landed in Washington, D.C., the group is calling it quits after accomplishing nothing except injuring residents and circling the Beltway.

Co-organizer Mike Landis announced Sunday night that the group would pack its things up in the coming days and drive back to California.

“So what I want to know is, what do you think about heading to California?” Landis asked, to the crowd’s delight. “Sounds like a great plan,” one convoy-goer yelled back.

Landis further said that convoy-goers who remain posted up in Hagerstown, Maryland—who have experienced many freezing nights while camped out in the small town an hour and a half north of D.C. proper—will enjoy a southerly route back to California. “We’re gonna take a little more southern route, so it’s a little warmer than this,” he said.

He pledged to “come back to finish this job” in the metro area at some unspecified time, which seems highly unlikely as their crowd dwindles.

The announcement comes after lead organizer Brian Brase fled Hagerstown again over the weekend amid continued splintering within the group.

https://img.thedailybeast.com/image/upload/c_crop,d_placeholder_euli9k,h_5078,w_7614,x_0,y_0/dpr_1.5/c_limit,w_690/fl_lossy,q_auto/GettyImages-1380746754_nn3yto

“I am not running away,” Brase said in an attempt to convince the crowd Saturday night.

Convoy organizers didn’t return The Daily Beast’s request for comment on Sunday night.

Over the past three weeks, the convoy has struggled to gain traction with lawmakers in Washington. The group met only with Republican Sens. Ted Cruz, Ron Johnson, and a handful of House Republicans while never brokering a meeting with a single Democratic lawmaker despite attempts to do so.

From claiming that average D.C. residents who flipped off truckers during their never-ending Beltway loops were agents of “antifa,” to being hilariously trolled by a single bicyclist and eventually getting a permit swatted down by the U.S. Park Service, the convoy kept stepping on rakes.

“Six antifa vehicles! Six antifa vehicles,” one trucker yelled over the CB radio on March 16 while the convoy circled the Beltway and annoyed commuters as its presence triggered Metro PD to close exit ramps. “Keep your heads on a swivel!” another trucker chimed in.

During its final week in Hagerstown, the group became increasingly desperate, with two of its medics leaving and factions emerging between those who believed the convoy was “corrupt[ed]” and those who thought it wasn’t. Morale was also dropping fast, and it appeared that the $2 million raised was drying up quickly, as organizers increasingly tightened the restrictions on how and when fuel reimbursements would be distributed to truckers.

Brase, the group’s de facto leader, had previously told The Daily Beast the convoy could go on “indefinitely.” “This is a process that we are hoping to do diplomatically,” Brase said. “We’re in it for the long haul.”

“We could go indefinitely, right now, if that’s what it takes,” he concluded. “We are not going away.”

@hightor,
I wondered who paid for the party? I wonder how many of those shitheads were driving their company's trucks? I wonder how many will still have a job?

@bobsal u1553115,
Local follow-up in the Washington Post told stories of truckers getting lost and losing their way while on their route. Turns out that huge numbers of Federal Employees are more tuned in to getting to work and other appts than they are to the perils of pissed off truckers. It's not easy to move around Washington D.C. completely unobstructed by other motorists.

Documents obtained by the Washington Post and CBS News put flesh on the bones of one of the great mysteries of January 6: why White House phone logs contain holes in the record despite evidence that the then president busily made calls at the height of the insurrection.

'But his burner phone.'
Steve Vladeck @steve_vladeck 6m
"The President appears to have used an unsecured burner phone for over seven hours while in the White House in the midst of an attempted insurrection, the goal of which was to unlawfully overturn the result of the democratic election removing him from power."

"But her e-mails."

Trump's Truth Social App Plummets in Traffic, Sees 93% Drop in Signups Since Launch Week

Former president Donald Trump’s Truth Social app is seeing a 93% drop in signups and similarly steep decline in traffic after a rocky rollout last month fraught with technical issues and an extensive waiting list for new signups to actually use the service.

After going live on President’s Day, the Twitter-lookalike app saw installs decline by more than 800,000 since its launch week, according to Sensor Tower. Installs on the Apple app store this month have fallen to about 60,000 per week, based on early estimates.

“This is down 93% from its launch week, when it saw 872,000 installs during the week of Feb. 21,” Stephanie Chan, mobile insights strategist at Sensor Tower, told TheWrap. “We estimate that Truth Social has so far reached approximately 1.2 million installs since its launch.”

And there is no data about how many actually use the site, which is not yet available to Android customers.

I can't imagine the contractors engaged to develop the app put their hearts and souls into it knowing Trump's record of actually paying contractors.

Can you imagine anybody describing Trump as an American Caesar? They actually believed that Trump should be a dictator. This goes along with the people that believe Trump should be on a golden throne with a golden crown or some of his other followers that believe Trump is the second coming of Christ. About half of the country would have no problem making Trump dictator for life. I don’t know what America these people live in, but it is not the America that the founding fathers envisioned

Peter Navarro was the one who negotiated some of the worst trade deals in history. The foreign countries like to see him coming because he was someone with a huge ego and absolutely no common sense. After the trade deal and tariffs, it showed each job gained in the steel industry cost American taxpayers $300,000 and forced other American companies that depended on imported materials out of business.

Trump was no Caesar, he was just a conman, swindler and liar. Anybody that sees anything else is imagining it.

So let me get this straight:

FEC levies a fine against the DNC and the 2016 Clinton Campaign for billing information regarding the Steele Dossier as "legal services" when it should have been billed as "opposition research" (i.e., a billing error):

"OH MY GOD, WE KNEW IT! THIS ABSOLUTELY PROVES WITHOUT A DOUBT THE TRUMP-RUSSIA COLLUSION STORY WAS A COMPLETE HOAX/WITCH-HUNT/FAKE NEWS/REALLY TERRIBLE MEAN LIE AND HOW DARE THEY SLANDER DONALD TRUMP LIKE THAT!"

Meanwhile, that very same day...

In an interview, Donald Trump tells Vladimir Putin--fresh in the middle of a war where his army is slaughtering untold numbers of Ukrainian civilians--that he ought to release whatever dirt he claims to have on the Biden family since he's "not exactly a fan of our country":

"Come on, that's just Trump being Trump. Can't you give him a break already?"
