Still, I would love to go back to it and audit his lawyers' books. Because if they're billing 16 years' worth of work in 6 months, then that should be the equivalent of 32 top dollar attorneys devoting 100% of their time to these matters.

Not junior associates and not even paralegals.

Even if we throw in a cheaper biller here and there (and you would need a few in order to match the dollar amount), we're still easily left with over 20 top dollar lawyers on these matters for 100% of their time.

That's a lot, even for complex matters.

How many times did top dollar lawyers bill for junk like scheduling depositions or filing uncontested motions with the courts? Those are the kinds of things that paralegals or clerks/secretaries do, or even very junior associates/law students. Giving scut work to top dollar lawyers is a pretty classic way to overcharge a client.

Trump is dirty from beginning to end...from top to bottom.

Even the billing, which probably was insisted upon before the agreed to work for him, is probably dirty.

holy ****, Judge Chutkan is not farking around
Tuesday was a good day for justice

Jeff Tiedrich
Aug 9, 2023

with each passing day, Judge Tanya S. Chutkan gets another opportunity to wedge her shoe just a bit further up Donald Trump’s ass.

the judge had given the DOJ and Trump’s ace team of parking garage lawyers until Friday to meet with her to discuss that protective order against compulsive blabbermouth Donny. find a time that’s good for both of you, she said.

Jack Smith was all any fuckin’ time you want, Judge, snap your fingers and we’ll be there. we have all the time in the world for this ****.

Trump’s team tried to pull their usual delay tactic bullshit. uhhhh, yeah, about that … we’re kinda busy this week, y’know, we have a lot of stuff going on, can we maybe have next week? or maybe the week after that? because, y’know, reasons.

Judge Chutkan was having none of it, and her reply was basically nice try, fuckos, but I wasn’t born yesterday. I’ll see you in my office Friday at 10am sharp. be there or face a blizzard of ****.

I am so ******* here for this. at last, a judge who fully understands who she is dealing with and will absolutely not tolerate any of his dipshittery.

for his part, Trump is already bragging that he’ll ignore any protective order imposed on him. the stupid **** really has no idea how any of this works.

go ahead, Donny. make our day.

meanwhile, down in Georgia, Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis is wrapping up her investigation into Trump’s 2020 election muckery and putting a nice big bow on it.

Willis has anounced that she’s “ready to go” and will be presenting her case to the grand jury next week. a vote to indict could come as early as Tuesday.

at this point, it’s just a guessing game of who gets indicted. Trump, most certainly. Rudy Giuliani, probably. throw in some fake electors — the ones who chose not to cooperate with Willis. maybe even Lindsey Graham? oh, that would be delicious.

the good news came in threes yesterday.

Ohio voters resoundingly rejected a Republican-backed measure that would have made it more difficult to change the state’s constitution, setting up a fall campaign that will become the nation’s latest referendum on abortion rights since the U.S. Supreme Court overturned nationwide protections last year.

this is what the GOP does. when they can’t win at the polls — which they increasingly can’t, because their policies suck — they try to game the system to make it harder to vote.

keep it up, Republicans. keep running your fool mouths about how you can’t wait to criminalize women’s healthcare. you’re going to get slaughtered at the polls.

@OmarRiverosays
BREAKING: CNN drops Wednesday bombshell, reveals that Special Counsel Jack Smith “secured a search warrant” of Donald Trump’s Twitter account, @realDonaldTrump
, according to a newly unsealed court filing.”

But it gets even WORSE for Donald Trump…

CNN continues, reporting that “the search was so secret that Twitter(now rebranded as X) was barred from telling Trump the search warrant had been obtained for his account, and Twitter was fined $350,000 because it delayed producing the records sought under the search warrant.

The special counsel’s office, which is now working on the criminal case against Trump in DC District Court related to his efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election, sought the warrant in January 2023.

Twitter ultimately produced the records, according to the filing, now public in the US Circuit Court of Appeals.”

This is HUGE. First, it shows that Special Counsel Jack Smith’s criminal investigation into Trump is even deeper in scope than we ever imagined. Second, it’s devastating news for Trump because we can only imagine how much criminality and incriminating evidence Jack Smith must have found in Trump’s Twitter direct message inbox.

Third, but not least, it appears to prove that Twitter owner Elon Musk TRIED to delay or even deny the warrant for Trump’s Twitter records — a shocking new scandal for the already controversial and highly partisan Twitter(X) owner.

Please retweet and ❤️ if you think that Trump MUST be found guilty — and consider joining the growing exodus to Tribel, a woke new Twitter competitor that banned Trump for life and is exploding in popularity because Elon Musk banned Tribel’s Twitter account — but he forgot to ban this link to download the new Tribel app: http://tribel.app.link/okwPIHYCIqb

Special counsel obtained search warrant for Donald Trump’s Twitter account

Katelyn Polantz Hannah Rabinowitz

Updated 2:06 PM EDT, Wed August 9, 2023

https://www.cnn.com/2023/08/09/politics/special-counsel-trump-twitter-search-warrant/index.html

The special counsel investigation into Donald Trump secured a search warrant of the former president’s Twitter account, @realDonaldTrump, according to a newly unsealed court filing.

The search was so secret that Twitter was initially barred from telling Trump the search warrant had been obtained for his account, and the company, now known as “X,” was fined $350,000 because it delayed producing the records sought under the search warrant.

Takeaways from the indictment of Donald Trump for efforts to overturn his 2020 election defeat

The search warrant special counsel Jack Smith obtained sought “data and records related” to Trump’s account, and ultimately, the platform was allowed to share some information about the search warrant with the former president.

The special counsel’s office, which is now working on the criminal case against Trump in DC District Court related to his efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election, sought the warrant in January 2023.

Twitter ultimately produced the records, according to the filing, now public in the US Circuit Court of Appeals.
Court was worried about giving Trump chance to destroy evidence

Twitter and special counsel Jack Smith’s office spent several months litigating the question of whether Trump should be told about the search warrant.

The dispute came to light on Wednesday when the DC Circuit Court of Appeals unsealed a decision upholding how the district court had handled the dispute, including its imposition of sanctions on the company, which missed a deadline for producing the information by three days.

The district court, according to the DC Circuit’s opinion, “found that there were ‘reasonable grounds to believe’ that disclosing the warrant to former President Trump ‘would seriously jeopardize the ongoing investigation’ by giving him “an opportunity to destroy evidence, change patterns of behavior, [or] notify confederates.”

The district court also concluded the non-disclosure order was necessary because it “found reason to believe that the former President would ‘flee from prosecution,’” a footnote says.

“The government later acknowledged, however, that it had ‘errantly included flight from prosecution as a predicate’ in its application,” the footnote said. “The district court did not rely on risk of flight in its ultimate analysis.”

The platform – which rebranded as “X” over the course of its legal dispute with prosecutors – did not object producing the records Smith sought, but argued that the ban on informing Trump of the search warrant violated the First Amendment and the Stored Communications Act, a law that governs how third party internet platforms can be compelled to turn over user records.

Over the course of litigation, the non-disclosure order was amended to allow Twitter to “notify the former President of the existence and contents of the warrant,” but information about the case agent on the investigation was to be withheld.

Prosecutors had changed their posture to allow for some disclosure “because ‘additional information’ about investigations of the former President [that became] publicly available’ after the nondisclosure order was issued,” the ruling said.

Court battle has played out secretly for months

There had been indications at the courthouse of a sealed legal battle between the special counsel’s office and a major tech company. But until Wednesday’s release of the DC Circuit ruling, most information about the case was shrouded with secrecy.

The appellate ruling, which was written by Circuit Judge Florence Pan and joined by Circuit Judges J. Michelle Childs and Nina Pillard, was issued in July. The version unsealed Wednesday had been modified for public release.

It said that Smith’s office had “difficulties” when it first attempted to serve Twitter with the search warrant and nondisclosure order.

Pan and Childs were nominated by President Joe Biden; Pillard by Barack Obama.

Prosecutors first attempted to serve Twitter with the warrant through their website for legal requests on January 17, 2023, “only to find out that the website was inoperative,” the ruling says. Prosecutors successfully contacted and served Twitter through that same website two days later.

The next week, however, prosecutors contacted Twitter’s lawyer to check on the status of their compliance with the search warrant. Twitter’ s counsel stated that she “had not heard anything about [the] [w]arrant,” according to the order.

By the first week of February, Twitter had asked the DC district court to vacate the nondisclosure order, arguing that they should be able to tell Trump about the warrant. A district judge denied that request, and Twitter turned over the records on February 9.

In March, Twitter asked the DC appeals court to reverse the district court’s opinion upholding the nondisclosure order. Prosecutors amended the order in June to allow for some information to be provided to Trump.

@Frank Apisa,
And this speaks to the heart of the of the GOP. It's not Republicans, it's conservatives. The arguments are no longer Democrats vs Republicans, it's conservative vs liberals.

Universal health care isn't a Republican vs a Democratic issue - it's a conservative vs a liberal issue. Republicans who support universal health care want a state by state administration of it and use private health corporations to provide it. Democrat's want a Federally administered program, like the way VA is provided.

Health care is one area I disagree with the Republican party that supports universal health care, I want a more VA style health care system available for everyone.

I also don't want private corporations involved in corrections or the military.

The Obama ACA is basically a Republican form of universal health care.

I understand what you are saying, but you have to take into one thing that I think you may be giving short shrift. The GOP is totally captive to, not only American conservatives...BUT THE MOST EXTREME CONSERVATIVES POSSIBLE.

No Republican politician can be elected without the full support of the lowest of the low in that party.

Exactly. And since they need at least some moderate support they run a sideshow campaign along with the MAGA crap, accusing Democrats of wholesale corruption, raising taxes (on capital gains), and strangling corporations with excessive regulation.
