what are some good ones that are out that i should watch? i have seen some and i have to say i am getting hooked on them. i enjoy them. they are new and fresh to me...
they have something that the blockbusters are just missing in my opinion...
so any help would be greatful... thanks
The sleeper indy probably of all time is "The Crying Game" and the same director's "Dirty Pretty Things" is also dynamite. I also enjoyed "Laurel Canyon" although it received mixed reviews.
You can find these titles and info about them on
www.imdb.com
by entering the title on the search (be sure to set the tree on "title") There's also a lot of user reviews of each film.
yea im a big fan of IMDB but i value the opinions of those on these boards so i thought i would get the opinion of said board memebers
City of God is a great movie. It's an idie film but got pretty big.
A poor city in Brazil that's run by gangs. The movie follows the gangs, the rise and fall type of thing. Based on a true story...definitely should check it out. It's subtitled.
cool deal... i'll try and get it on netflix
I agree -- "City of God" is one of the finest indies (actually it's a foreign film, which may be a different thing from American indies perhaps as the topic here).
In three years I have only opened eleven topics on A2K. "City of God" affected me enough to inspire one of them.

"City of God" is a foreign film. I'm not sure whether Seed intended to explore outside the Indy lable as there is a hugh title list of foreign films, a good majority of them not studio produced. "City of God" is my favorite foreign film of the past ten years. It's powerful story and brilliant cinematography is hard to excel.
Over an 8 out of 10 rating at IMDb:

oh no i have watched several foreign films before and i thought i would hate them and but i have been very surprised by what i have seen... i will go down any avenue
Okay -- it makes the a rather huge topic and there have been several foreign film threads -- you can use the search feature for film above and type in
foreign films
That will give you a plethora of recommendations, depending on the response here. Your title will attract members who will concentrate on indies.

Here's a good thread from the past on foreign films and the poster included indies:

The search doesn't seem to be working correctly as it brought up all topics but I did scroll down and find that one,
