I have two guppies and one dwarf Gourami. I will be gone for one week. Every morning I need them fed, checked on, and their light turned on. In the afternoon I need them fed, checked on, and their light turned off. My friend will be watching them and the fish will stay at my house which is less than half a mile away from her house. How much should I pay her?!?
@MindlessFish555 ,
$20 an hour at a minimum of 7 hours a day. Plus health insurance and matching 401k.
@MindlessFish555 ,
You're right.
I'm thinking $5 or $10 per day. That's mostly a token payment between friends.
A lady I worked with used to cat sit for each other. No payment as each was always ready to take care of the others.
@MindlessFish555 ,
I don't think fish have any need for money. What are they going to spend it on?
@MindlessFish555 ,
I would probably give my friend a small (like $25 to $35) gift card for a place you know they like, or even for a grocery store.
Handing a friend cash could be awkward if you haven’t talked about payment. A gift card makes it personal.
If it wasn’t for COVID, you could take her out to lunch
You have a very specific schedule with very specific tasks. So this person Must come to your house, let themselves in and perform these tasks twice a day. I would allow at least $10 per day. That’s a lot of responsibility this person is taking on even though it’s for fish.
