Facebook experiment

Mon 29 Jun, 2020 01:29 am
On Friday I decided to try an experiment on facebook.

I posted "Murder all white people! White people aren't human! #killwhitey".

My intent was to see if the post would be removed or shadow banned. I asked several of my friends to please report the post, which they did.

As of today, three days later the post is still up, fully visible by everyone and anyone. I did not receive a sentence to 'facebook jail', I received no disciplinary action whatsoever. Many people gave the post a 'thumbs up'.

To give this more context, I am non-white.

Racism against whites has never been more socially acceptable, and encouraged by society.

@FreedomEyeLove,
For the proof to be convincing, you ought to try it again with "Murder all colored people! Non-white people aren't human! #killcolored", and see what happens.

@Olivier5,
That's a great idea!

I will wait until this Friday, to leave the original post up for exactly one week. Then I will simply change "white" with "black".

I imagine the results will be quite different, but I will wait to see.

Oliver's comment is good.

But I am curious (assuming that calls murder Black people are censored while calls to murder white people are left alone)?

What do you think this experiment proves?

@maxdancona,
Double standards, I would think.

@Olivier5,
Thats all it proves though. It doesn't prove anything about the reason for the double standard.

@maxdancona,
Indeed, but a double standard would in itself be a problem (assuming FreedomEyeLove can evidence one in Facebook, which remains to be seen).

If it was the other way round -- if calls to murder blacks were not pulled off while calls to murder white were pulled off the site -- what would be your hypothesis about the reason for the double standard?

BTW, some people have noted that Facebook pulls off sexual content much faster than violent or racist content.

@Olivier5,
I don't think these double standards are a problem. These decisions are arbitrary, and they are made within a aocial context.

Is there anyone who would argue that saying "kill a Jews" is more troubling than "kill all Canadians". Based on social and historical context these two statements are completely different.

Going out and looking for a man to beat the **** put of is substantially different than looking for a woman to beat the **** out of.

I don't think you can take these things out of context to look for mathematical symmetry.

Next Friday is July 4th. My daughter is planning to celebrate "all counties are great" day.

@maxdancona,
I see what you're saying. Context does matter. I still don't take calls for mass murder as legitimate business, even when targeted at Canadians.

Because it's worse to harm a man?

I'd say that harming either gender is equally unacceptable.

@McGentrix,
What are you saying?

Should he be adding an r, or taking off an o?

@maxdancona,
Quote:
...all counties...

That is blatant disregard and discrimination for our friends and neighbors of Alaska (they have Boroughs) and Louisiana (they have Parishes).

Sad, quite frankly it's intensely said that you would allow this!

(for the uninformed here, this moment of non-existent humor/humour is in response to maximillius who, continuously chides persons for spelling errors and happenstance letter omissions) )

@Sturgis,
Bullshit Sturgizzy.

Can you link to any place where I have chided anyone for a spelling error?

You have called me out for being a bigot, misogynist, a liar, a moron, a rape apologist an incel, a user of blow up dolls a fake centrist and a fascist.

But I will not stand for being called a pedant. Now you are going too far.

@maxdancona,
Now now, maxi. You're beginning to sound like someone else on this site, by demanding others furnish you with links to the posts.

Incidentally, I have never, no not ever, said you are a bigot, an incel, a moron or a couple of the other items.

I do however remember mentioning your blowup doll.

Late friday evening I posted "Murder all black people! Black people aren't human! #killblackey".

I received zero 'likes', and several angry and sad emoticons. I also had one person call me a racist.

The post was up for about 3 or 4 hours, when I received notification that it had been removed by facebook for going against community guidelines. I also received a 3 day suspension (I am currently suspended).

The original post ("Murder all white people! White people aren't human! #killwhitey") remains up after more than a week.
