This thread was inspired by the TV moms thread -- So looking at the other side of the coin, who is your favorite single gal character on TV, past or present?
A few that come to my mind are -- Mary Richards, Rhoda Morganstern, Laverne & Shirley, and Elaine Bennis.
Anybody remember "My Little Margie"???

I like Phoebe from 'Friends'. She is WAY out there!
As you can see, I'm an X-Files fan. Dana Scully did end up with Mulder (it seems), but she was single for the nine years that the series ran.
Currently I like Catherine (Marg Helgenberger) on CSI and Abby (Maura Tierney) on ER.
Catherine! She is so cool!
To heck with the single women, I LOVE Horatio on CSI ... that's my man!
As for the women, I have to go with Oprah because she has pulled herself up from nowhere, she's very successful, and she knows her spiritual self and rejoices in it.
Annie Potts, on "Designing Domen". so pretty, so witty.
Hoshi on "Enterprise" - the character has come a long way from being an intellectual snob terrified of every bit of turbulence. She'll probably never be a real soldier/fighter, but she's got moxie.
Jorja Fox on CSI is the best!
