movie where everyone talks on the phone and never meet

There was a movie, some time ago but post 1991, that revolved around a bunch of people/friends who talked a lot on the phone but never met. The whole plot point was about phone-only relationships (before cell phones). I think one character tried to have a party and no one shows up. In the end, two characters do end up on a bus together at night, to break the pattern?
I thought Ken Olin was in it but that seems wrong.
Seems like an indie thing. Don't think it was made for tv but maybe I got that wrong.
Any ideas?
