He was 91 and, tragically, was hit by 2 cars while crossing a street in LA (Venice Boulevard, I believe).

I remember him from game shows and from an appearance on the original Twilight Zone. Apparently, per the article, he was also blacklisted for a short period of time, and frolicked around the country in a hippie stage for a while there. He was also the father-in-law of Andrew Breitbart.

His poor wife, actress Alley Mills, saw it all and I hope that lady finds some peace. How awful.

Sure I remember him from the game shows. But I first was introduced to him through MAD magazine, where he contributed a few features. My favorite was "Two Chinese Fellows Who Go to an American Restaurant" — which I can still picture. One of the guys was ogling their server and remarked, "American waitress built like a bamboo outhouse!" At the end one of them turns to the other and says something to this effect, "American food is good but I always feel hungry after twenty minutes." I was impressed reading about all the things Orson Bean did — a real bon vivant.
