Your disenchantment is well founded, but for other reasons.
Humans are endlessly interesting and amazing creatures, but they should never be worshipped.

Humankind is different from actual humans; it's a man-made concept, a sort of ideal.

The 'ideal' part is where it all goes wrong. The clock was given enough sense to recognize that.

It’s just that when I chose humans as my ideals,
