Does "half-right" mean West Virginia?
Hey, Dutchy, if you will notice, I had to correct myself on that one. Francis' hint had to do with a type of bourbon from another state along with a certain colonel. My place has a two state view.
Incidentally, it's not West Virginia, Dutchy.
another hint: Daniel Boone
Letty have you had to much Bourbon? You keep referring to Dutchy, yet I haven't been here for hours.
I do believe that I have. I didn't even see my furry friend, George. Sorry, I have been having some trouble with my pc, and all I noticed was soccer balls.
re-cap: the place is a view of two states, one of which is Virginia. The other state has been referred to by a place where they have colonels, horse races, and bourbon. Another reference was Daniel Boone.
I have been to this place and the view is awesome. Whew! Actually, I am having a whiskey sour.
Letty if you can still read this

I have put all the clues together and can come to only one conclusion. Kentucky.

Believe me, Dutchy, I can still read. For a skinny little woman, I hold whiskey sours rather well. Yes, Kentucky is the other state. Now all I want is the park's name. Francis gave a hint about that as well; taking a break was the clue.
Breaks Interstate Park ?
Region: Heart of Appalachia
Locality: Dickenson County
Breaks, VA 24607
The park, located on the Virginia/Kentucky border, is one of only two Interstate Parks in the nation. The park encompasses 4,500 acres of greenwood lands and mountain scenery, including the "Grand Canyon of the South". History: The name "Breaks" is derived from the break in Pine Mountain created by the Russell Fork of the Big Sandy River as it carved a 1,000 foot gorge on its way to the Ohio River. The Russell Fork River has carved the largest canyon east of the Mississippi. Its craggy untouched beauty reaches more than five miles long and 1,600 feet deep. Park features: olympic pool, a lake with paddleboats and fishing, hiking trails, picnic areas, camping areas, a visitor center, a gift shop, playground equipment, cabins, a lodge, motel
You got it Dutchy. It is a beautiful place.
Well, Mr. and Mrs. Dutchy are off to do grocery shopping, so I am going to give his place a try. I know that we can rule out the Kentucky Derby.

, and it is not the Camels are Coming, so that rules out Scotland.
Hmmm. How about Australia. Do they have ships of the desert?
Letty you are correct it is Australia but where?
(Did you know we have more wild camels in our interior than the rest of the world?)
No, Duchy, I did NOT know that. Amazing. You folks have all kinds of interesting creatures, really. I will take one guess then I must say goodnight. Is your place in the interior of Australia?
Indeed it is, smack bang in the heart of Oz land.
Great guess, then. <smile>. I will say goodnight, but in the morning I will have a place to start, honey.
Ok, Dutchy. Let's try Alice Springs. Wow! I learn so much on this thread.
A comparison picture:
I know it's the Northern Territory, but not certain if it's Alice Springs.
Letty I just checked in for a moment (1am here) to see how far you got. Congratulations it is indeed the "Alice Springs" Camel Racing Carnival run annually in the Northern Territory. Your turn and goodnight.
Goodnight, dear Dutchy.
Back later with a place.
Where am I, and what is the significance:
