Are we looking for a place near Charlottesville, Francis? and when you say famous people stayed there, do you mean presidents or some other personage?

Hello. Where did Francis go? Did George Washington sleep there? Seriously, it resembles Mt. Vernon a little.

At least two presidents slept there, one of them had the name of that place as part of his nickname...

sorry. A little dizzy for some reason.

Hmmm. So it is not Mt. Vernon, nor is it near Charlottesville. So one of the presidents had a nickname taken from this place. The only one I can think of at present, is "Old Hickory".

My Yahoo engine sputters, stalls, and quits and Google isn't much better.

The presidents who slept there did so several decades after Andrew Jackson..

Well, Francis, you have me stumped. Two questions. Was the president Theodore Roosevelt? He was in office at that time. Is the place in Northern Virginia? Old kinderhook is the nickname of Martin Van Buren. Many folks think that is the origin of O.K.

Not Roosevelt. I would say central Virginia.

One of the presidents that slept there was murdered..

The murdered president belonged to the same party than Harrison and Tyler, at the beginning...

Hmmmm. Well, I will have to keep looking, Francis. In the interim, take a look at the painting on WA2K radio and identify it for me. <smile>

Well, you must mean William McKinley who was assassinated by an anarchist. (not dys Razz )The only nickname I could find for him was Idol of Ohio. Wow. This one is more difficult than I thought it would be.

Just took a look at the map of Virginia and found that my ancestral home location is there in what I deem the central part of the state. My mom was born in Goochland. Still can't find it, Francis. Tell me if I am right so far.

Well, "Granted" must be a clue, Francis, but damned if I can figure it out.

Ok, let's recap:

The place is in the center of Virginia.
Two famous people stayed at the place, one of which was an assassinated president which I concluded was William Harrison.
I am certain the place has nothing to do with U.S. Grant.

Right so far?

Why so, Miss Letty?

I said that the assassinated president belonged to the same party than Harrison, which means that Harrison is not one our presidents.

Why are you certain the place has nothing to do with U.S. Grant? What was his nickname yet?

Miss Letty certainly is working like an heroic, but it's an appendix ...
