Walter is correct (if I understand his Italian correctly!) It is a spa or spring, and the building is there to allow people to "take the waters"

Now, I need to know the name of the town.

(hint, the name of the town comes from the name of the spring)

Montecatini Terme, in Tuscany.

Which is just down the hill from Montecatini Alto, of course. Boh of them well worth a visit.
