@Dutchy,
It is a government building, well, not really, more by the town.

@Walter Hinteler,
The national language, by the way, became only more spoken in that town when the railway junction was finished.

Now, break that nut - I'll be away over the weekend (shortly, but not to France, unfortunately) Wink

@Walter Hinteler,
Looking at the clock, is it a railway station?

@Dutchy,
No, but the officials certainly want to show the town's citizens the time ...

@Dutchy,
interesting building, if a tad gloomy..

naturally I have no idea where it is. Are we in northern europe (which for me includes the british isles)?

@ossobuco,
Exactly ossobuco! I picked it because I know you like architecture.

@Dutchy,
I like arch history, dutchy, but I'm fairly stupid on it. Have arch historian friends, and what good does that do me? Besides, I'm not them. I'm fairly simple, I just react to what looks pleasing to me and am sort of refuse-ant about piles of data.

So - I see this place as a large pile...

@ossobuco,
Let me assume I can eliminate the british isles..

which brings up, no one answered me a long time ago if England is in Europe...

I'm thinking someplace without pressure wash equipment, um, Poland?

@ossobuco,
The building is part of a well known University, this hint combined with the hint in my first reply should put you on the right track, and don't eliminate the British Isles!

@Dutchy,
I missed the hint. So it goes. Are we in Scotland? (I have a chemist friend who studied in glasgow, pretty much frozen). Or maybe it wasn't Glasgow. Years blear names, but she was smart.

@Dutchy,
OK, this'll be fun. I don't mind if anyone beats me to it, will enjoy the looking.

Poor Kirsten, even in southern california she seemed to be thawing out.

Yeh, but I'm eating roast chicken with ginger and lime and have sticky fingers. How can I google?

@Dutchy,
If one is schooled enough in architecture, it's easy to find (the firth or forth pic on google).
