@ossobuco,
A close-up and some more information.

Between Camogli and Portofino, in a deep creek in the indented coast of the Cape of Portofino, the San Fruttuoso Abbey rises in the intact Capodimonte bay. After the first monastic frequentation, San Fruttuoso's architectonic set was humble room for fishermen, often broods of pirates, then property for centuries of the Doria Principles: an absolutely unique place, where men's work has been happily integrated with nature. You can visit the X-XI century complex with the Cloister, the "Sala Capitolare", the Church; Doria's graves and oldest gothic complex.

Yay.....

I was having trouble finding maps with Portofino and Camogli, for heaven's sakes.

Heres one with the exact place -

Here's a cutie site where you can click on the buildings and get some history -
rather nifty:

@ossobuco,
The Bell'Italia mag says that Andrea Doria had the big tower (2nd photo) built to defend the complex from the Saraceni...

@Dutchy,
Nuts, I gave the wrong link for that cutie site and deleted it.
Will see if I can find it again quickly.
Otherwise, see you tomorrow.

@ossobuco,
Yes I did notice, the links didn't come through, but thanks for the map, will enlarge that and see where we are exactly. Now go to bed. Smile

@Dutchy,
The second link was sort of ordinary but the first was, as I said, nifty. I remembered eventually that it was from dolcevita travel but there's a note that they're redoing their website. Ah, well.
