I gave info about the place on the island you found.

Besides, it would be funny to see a place posted by you. (I posted too many places).

We've had arguments here on what is or isn't part of central america, thus my use of north. I don't know how the islands fit in to that...

The islands are the Caribbean.

The Caribbean is culturally another ball game, lemme tell you.

You need not know this, but the peoples of the Caribbean take special pride of their belonging, and would feel very resentful if their country was considered to be Central or North America.

On sports, there is the ODECABE region, which includes -differentiating them- Central American and Caribbean countries.
Oddly enough, Mexico, Colombia & Venezuela are considered also "caribbean" countries, but only because parts of them belong to the Caribbean region & culture.

I'm logging out now.

While I'm away, a clue: it's the Dominican Republic allright, but think Vietnam... even Cambodia.
Doesn't that river look familiar?

Vietnam was a good hint.

Francis Ford Coppola made the village of Altos de Chavon the setting for his movie Apocalypse Now.
