Looks to me like St Joris Kerk, Amersfoort, Netherlands.
Congratulation Clary, the place is Amersfoort, The Netherlands. It is not the "St Joris Kerk" where your photo was taken, but the "Lange Jan" or "Long John" with 96m the second highest tower in Holland after 'The Dom" in Utrecht. Yoy may have a turn.
Ah, sorry about that, the photo I found said St Joris.
Well, that is obviously a mosque, Clary. Iran?
Uzbekistan, World Heritage:
Go, Dutchy. It's Walter's bedtime and Clary is off somewhere.
Well, I don't think, we actually know if Dutchy is correct (I still believe, it's me and Uzbekistan  )
It is the Registan in Samarkand, which I was privileged to visit a dozen years ago. Truly remarkable and quite similar of course to other mosques far and near. I would have thought that Esfahan Mosque would be Iran but.. I don't know.
So Walter, your turn...
Letty is indeed correct - it wouldn't make sense if I post a pic now.
So, first come, first served.
Where am I?
Hint: Al Capone loved him.
Chicago? looks a little like Soldier Field
Not the U.S., Turtle. Remember where I give hints. A famous person was born here.
Napoli, birthplace of tenor Enrico Caruso
Great, Turtle. That's the place. Your turn, M.D.
ok, this is related to something i posted today in another thread:
"Toro-Nagashi" or lantern floating is the picturesque ending to the Obon service. To guide the ancestrial spirits back to the other world, littel floats are lighted with candles and floated down rivers or on the sea. People eagerly watch them float down the river or carried by the wind far away from the shore.
