no, but some sort of bridge is involved. Razz

it's a city i've visited several times. and i may even have driven by the house in question. he's certainly the most famous resident of the city. it's the biggest city in a rather sparsely populated state.

Hmmm. OK, South Carolina, turtle? How many different meanings there are for the word, "bridge". I'll keep looking.

not SC; it isn't anywhere near an ocean. it's rather close to KC, however.

Famous builder of bridges, Mr. Turtle? and I am assuming K.C. stands for Kansas City. (love that song, incidentally.)

yes, it's KC, MO. forget the bridge clue, it's obscure, but it's near a river near KC. not St. L either; the city's smaller than KC or StL.

Ok, M.D., let's recap:

Your place is in Kansas City, Mo. near a small river.
It is the home of a famous person.

Is this famous person a writer or musician?

no, *not* in KC, missouri or kansas, but it's on the missouri r. and he's known for what he owns as much as what he does.

UhOh, turtle. I was headed in the wrong direction. Recalling something about turtle island and Mark Twain.

Okay. I misread your clues, so I'll keep searching along the wide Missouri.

So, this famous person is still alive, right?

Hey, M.D. I am more than a little confused now. Would you redo your clues in chronological order? The Missouri River is the largest tributary of the Mississippi River and originates waaaayyyyyy up North in the U.S.

famous person is alive & well. he's the most famous resident of the largest city in a sparsely populated state, and the city is located on the Missouri.

Yit, how about a hint as to the man. There are quite a few states along the Missouri River, honey, and even more cities. If I read correctly, you said that the place was the biggest city that was sparsely populated.
