Smoking true opium is a psych-O-delic experience. Get a comfy sofa, and someone to take the pipe away from you when you zone out . . .

It's the real deal and no doubt about it....The first time I smoked it I listened to Tarkus. Good Times.

Last time I smoked opium, a couple of years ago, on Halloween, I was dressed as as Abraham Lincoln as a vampire. I was with Mr. Hyde and Lizzy Borden. We smoked O and drank Absinthe and then went to a gods and monsters party. It was demented.

Classy. Only time I smoked it was in an ice-storm in a trailer in Groveland, CA. Freezing freaking cold. Good sleep. 'T's about all I remember.

Lizzie Borden took an ax
And gave her mother forty whacks
When she'd seen what she had done
She gave her father forty-one

I believe in technology. I could readily score a goodly count of "greens" the artificial opium they use in secere trauma. We were in Nigeria and stoned out of our skulls . I think I had sex with another species

only one experience, and you are so right

there were a few of us lounging on couches, big comfy chairs, and at some point we were having a conversation, and then we weren't, and everything was just pleasant, yes that would be the word, pleasant

i wished i'd known about string theory, i probably could have grasped the concept better than i do now

Medicinal properties for healing the lame are self evident.

Creative properties of the mind are enhanced.

I tried to smoke hash once. But the corned beef wouldn't stay lit.

Vietnam War would still be raging...

Everyone would have crew cuts...

We might have went to nuclear war with USSR and have annihilated humanity...

Music would be...Really Bad!

No MTV

No sexual revolution

Clinton could have inhaled

No Cheech & Chong!

Well, you know, I think heroin has done a lot more for music than weed. But I'm not knocking the green stuff.

I think this is dead wrong. I think most things that dope heads do they think is creative but is actually drivel once read with a clear head.

Kubla Kahn is the exception - not the rule.

TTF is quite right. Most of the writers, poets, composers, painters, musicians etc. who claim they got their inspiration while stoned or drunk really managed to accomplish their work in spite of the fact that they were frequently stoned or drunk.

It's a bit of a chicken&egg question, ain't it? Are stoned/high/drunk people more talented, or are talented people more stoned/high/drunk?

So many other social and psychological things tied up with drug use -- how to look at them all separately?

(There's also the question of whether, if you use, you always use while creating and/or performing or use when you are removed from that but still bouncing stuff around in the old skull, or some combination of those things.)
