Jack Nicholson's better than Pacino and Deniro put together!

Okay, we have the Deniro thread and the Pacino thread, but really, who is better than Jack Nicholson!?

He has given us more memorable moments than both of them put together! Who can forget, "HEEEEERE'S JOHNNY!!!"

Come on, when it comes to memorable performances, this guy is the baddest badass in hollywood, isn't he?

The Shining, Easy Rider, One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest...the list of his most memorable performances goes on and on.

I saw this movie last night called The Last Detail, which was one of his earlier ones. I think it was 1972 or something...even in that one there were a few great "Jack" moments, like when he was demonstrating his technique for oral stimulation of a woman, by doing this rolling tongue yodelling thing...funny ****.

What are your favorite Nicholson moments?

And how is that not at least as entertaining and memorable as just about anything Pacino or Deniro have ever come up with, even in their finest acting moments?

All of these old character actors are capacities in their
own right. No comparison needed.

I like DeNiro, I like Nicholson, and I like Al Pacino - all
for their different movie characters.

it is entertaining and memorable. but that doesn't make him as good, better, or as well rounded as either pacino or De niro whose scope, IMO is wider and deeper.

I like nicholson. I'd like to do some x with him and go out drinking one night.

Nicholson is a great actor but I would have to disagree kicky about easy rider, I didn't rate that film at all, I thought cuckoo's nest, the shining, and chinatown were brilliant.

My favorite Nicholson performance is in "Wolf." The stuff he's been doing lately, and receiving so many accolades for, I just don't get.

I agree he always plays himself but himself was perfect for "The Witches of Eastwick".

I'm glad I'm not the only one.

Nicholson is sort of a cult hero... People just like him. I don't think he's all that good an actor, but like about 50 people just said--his personality is entertaining...and he's "acted" in several movies that did well to have Jack Nicholson in them.

I do enjoy watching him...sometimes immensely...but it's more like "an appearance"... Has anyone seen him in a role that seemed like "a stretch"

(This is anything other than an amoral womanizer, someone of questionable mental health, or an ass--all of which he is.)

Just saw "Taxi Driver" again last night in hi-def -- any Nicholson performance even coming close might be "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" or "Five Easy Pieces" (my personal favorite).

With One Flew as a given, I really liked him in Somethings got to give it was a mature performance with glimpses of the old wild man here and there.

A great flick. Even Keanu Reeves was good in it.

"Five Easy Pieces" (my personal favorite).

Dupea: I'd like a plain omelette, no potatoes, tomatoes instead, a cup of coffee, and wheat toast.
Waitress: (She points to the menu) No substitutions.
Dupea: What do you mean? You don't have any tomatoes?
Waitress: Only what's on the menu. You can have a number two - a plain omelette. It comes with cottage fries and rolls.
Dupea: Yeah, I know what it comes with. But it's not what I want.
Waitress: Well, I'll come back when you make up your mind.
Dupea: Wait a minute. I have made up my mind. I'd like a plain omelette, no potatoes on the plate, a cup of coffee, and a side order of wheat toast.
Waitress: I'm sorry, we don't have any side orders of toast...an English muffin or a coffee roll.
Dupea: What do you mean you don't make side orders of toast? You make sandwiches, don't you?
Waitress: Would you like to talk to the manager?
Dupea: ...You've got bread and a toaster of some kind?
Waitress: I don't make the rules.
Dupea: OK, I'll make it as easy for you as I can. I'd like an omelette, plain, and a chicken salad sandwich on wheat toast, no mayonnaise, no butter, no lettuce. And a cup of coffee.
Waitress: A number two, chicken sal san, hold the butter, the lettuce and the mayonnaise. And a cup of coffee. Anything else?
Dupea: Yeah. Now all you have to do is hold the chicken, bring me the toast, give me a check for the chicken salad sandwich, and you haven't broken any rules.
Waitress (spitefully): You want me to hold the chicken, huh?
Dupea: I want you to hold it between your knees.
Waitress (turning and telling him to look at the sign that says, "No Substitutions") Do you see that sign, sir? Yes, you'll all have to leave. I'm not taking any more of your smartness and sarcasm.
Dupea: You see this sign? (He sweeps all the water glasses and menus off the table.)

About Schmidt could have been the worst movies Ive ever seen.

I've seen and enjoyed the movies you guys call his best, but the one that really impresses me is the last one with Diane Keaton, where he cinematically accepts growing old.

"carnal knowledge"

Bobbie: I need a life.
Jonathan: Get a job!
Bobbie: I don't want a job. I want you.
Jonathan: I'm taken, by me. Get out of the house, do something useful, Goddammit.
Jonathan: You want a job? I got a job for you. Fix up this pigsty! You get a pretty Goddammed good salary for testing out this bed all day! You want an extra fifty dollars a week, try vacuuming! You want an extra hundred, make this Goddammed bed! Try opening some Goddammed windows! That's why you can't stand up in here, the Goddammed place smells like a coffin!

(again, not acting, just jack being himself...)
