Has the stately progress of women in New Mexico already happened? When I finally get there in a couple of years, will there be another?

It is MA, that's prolly why they're so anxious to pass the universal health inurance.

I got my 2 month's of BC pills.... next week, I'll hopefully be done with the friggin flashes. They're making me crazy! Nothing like telling your dinner guests about your peri-menopause.....

Hope those pills help, littlek.

So I've been trying to find sandals. My current pair are about 5 years old and had a terrible sole to begin with. (A solid brick of foam, quite inflexible.)

I know just what I want, and have been looking for a couple of years. The holy grail hasn't appeared -- one's nice but too expensive, another is a good price but bleh. Finally found some that seemed to hit several qualifications at once. Read the reviews at Zappos, and one was "I think these shoes are more fitting (and stylish) for older women." I went hmmph, maybe not those shoes then. Then I realized the pipsqueak author probably meant people around my age.

Double hmmph.

(I like 'em, found 'em on sale somewhere, ordered 'em.)

And once for me too, Soz! Smile

littlek, I could be totally wrong, but as Osso suggested, I don't think the two events are related but perhaps coincidental. I am not unlike Cyphercat however and have gotten a feeling of "hot flashes" when I have been sick, but that has all been attributed to running a fever, even a low grade one. At the age of 35, it does seem terribly young to even be perimenopausal, but it certainly could be the reason for the hot flashes.

I just had a complete hysterectomy in January and up until that time (at the age of 51!) I was still menstruating every month and had no signs of perimenopause or menopause. The FSH levels (Follicular Stimulating Hormone) in my blood ran as normal as a 25 year old with no drop in the levels that usually signal that menopause is approaching. So technically, I am guessing, had I not had a tubal ligation at age 27 and not had all the fibroids and endometriosis and ovarian cysts that I did, I could have probably still been able to conceive at MY age! Yikes!!!

I have been totally blessed since having my hysterectomy and have had literally NO hot flashes or mood swings or any of the discomfort that can come with menopause. My OB/GYN said that if I was going to get them, I would probably have gotten them all within about 2 weeks after my surgery. Damn, I feel lucky!!

I wish I knew what to tell you, littlek....I want you to feel better!

Hi, Lady J, great to see you. Yikes, you've been through a lot lately! Glad you're not dealing with flashes on top of it.

This thread is older... though the dates look the same at first glace.

So nice to see this thread up and running, even if it was a slight mistake. Lady J, please do more than wave next time you drive through ABQ!

Speaking of hot flashes...I have been toasty warm ever since menopause. Sometimes hot flashes but usually just a little too hot. Yech, no fair. I have a couple of friends who are the same--that neverending warmth. Poor dys sleeps with an electric blanket and a comforter and I sleep in my birthday suit and just the sheet. At lease I can help keep him warm. Our lady of perpetual menopause, that's me.

I remember a woman talking about what she would ask god if she ever got to meet him personally. She would ask, "What WERE you thinking??"

I would say, not much when it came to the various processes women have to go through. Hmmphf.

"perpetual menopause"? How long has it been, Diane?

I have been flashing (HOT flashing) again lately. I stopped taking my birth control a couple days early and I'd been on antibiotics. So, this week of hormones has left me flashy. Not as bad as it could be. But I'm not even 40!

Lilk, you are very young to be having these symptoms. The bad news is that it can happen to young women.

I didn't have the typical hot flashes very often--by typical I mean the soaking sweats so many women get. I just get very warm, uncomfortably warm, which can be embarrassing as I flush very easily. And this still happens at 64!! I ended menopause around 55 or 56.

Have you tried cohosh root? I use it everyday and it does help. I found out how much it worked when I ran out and didn't get more for almost a week. Until then, I hadn't been positive that it made any difference.

Does you doctor think you should be on hormone replacement therapy? That was very helpful, but I have a rather high risk of heart attack, so had to stop. Thank heaven for black cohosh.

Old man
don't turn around
I've seen your face
in another place
why do I stare
how is it you dare
question with words
judge with a vision
take time to listen
it was I who painted
your face
with crevasse and canyon
while you lay in the meadow
beside sparkling brook
between jonquil and jewel weed
it was I that whispered words
wisdom filled words
words of vision that conjure
a metaphoric Oak
once filled with the warm spring wind
now ...... twisted and bowed
it was I who answered
'you should know'
that to count fallen leaves
leads to distraction
when the wintry winds blow
how to compare
what is or is not there
trying to learn
what the tree
cares nothing about
the trees, jonquils, and the brook
know patience
but are ignorant of time
wearing you cross my shoulders
for warmth and comfort
pretending to know
why life is so slow
except when counting leaves
fallen in the snow
it was I
who grew you old
I who will see you
when you count
your final leaf of gold
in the numbing cold
I who will answer
when your story is told
I who will meet you
as again and again
the jonquils
turn gold
