im a creative arty freak.Im going through a phase of making cards possibly to sell.
Id love to add some printed paintings from the net by artists like Degas/Alphonse Mucha but Im aware there is some kind of copyright law.
Does anybody have details of the law.Could I use other peoples work, add it to mine and sell it?
Ive just had a thought.People on ebay sell film reels, art prints taken form celeb photos, bags with famous pics on them.
If they can sell them then surely it must be ok to make something like greetings cards using items from ebay.
Yay or nay?
Copy right laws
You have to contact the people that handle their estates, and ask permission to use the images.
AE
you could get into a lot of trouble with copyright laws
Why use other people's images if the work is supposed to be your own?
Most of the work would be mine but Im no good at drawing and other peoples paintings are perfect to accompany my ideas.I wouldnt use them to sell,as I know its wrong.
What I have discovered is that some of the stuff bought in craft shops like paper with designs on or rubber stamps also cant be used on art projects that are made for commercial use!
practice makes perfect! start drawing
Yeah, i need to start.
As we speak Im making stars out of bugle beads and wire!!!
Question
For basic info, you can find anything that has a REGISTERED copyright/trademark/etc. at the library of congress website...
www.loc.gov
And
http://www.copyright.gov/
Just notice that you are in Europe. Does Europe have something similar to the Library of Congres?
but a living artists work is copyright anyway, even if not actually registered (and for some time after their death, can't remember how many years ... 50 sounds familiar????)
Beautiful art work Vivien!
