Hey everyone! I am new to this so any advise would be great!! Here goes...I recently purchased art work from an estate sale. I have always loved art but never collected it. I bought a piece labeled and signed in pencil "Head of a Young Woman 1867 Degas" How do I go about finding out if this piece, along with others, are authentic?

Sorry to inform you your piece is not an original one.
There are very good reproductions on the market.

The original belongs to the National Collection of France

Thank you. It is still a beautiful piece. I have another but I can't make out the artist signature. It is pencil signed as well. Has anyone ever heard of an artist named Lasher

Besides that - when posting an image link - you normally should stop with the kind of image (e.g. .bmp like here http://us.f1f.yahoofs.com/bc/421f7755_12660/bc/art++lasher.bmp), this linl doesn't (private site?) here.

Regarding that it is the same "signature", it looks more like a notice about those pictures/painters than a real signature.
