@spendius,
Hi Spendius do you think that the queen has much time left?

Here are the names of the 10 Democrats who voted against the American Jobs Bill last night:

Sens. Al Franken (Minn.), Kay Hagan (N.C.), Robert Menendez (N.J.), Amy Klobuchar (Minn.), Michael Bennet (Colo.), Ben Nelson (Neb.), Jon Tester (Mont.), Joe Manchin (W.Va.), Claire McCaskill (Mo.) and Bill Nelson (Fla.).

The first one surprises me, but I'm not into the individual polls yet to see who's up for reelection next cycle. A couple of DINOs stand out, though.

RJB: That Schumer/Lee proposal sounds interesting. Couple of things about it I don't quite get, but the devil is in the details, as they say, so I'm sure everything about it will be spelled out eventually. For investment purposes, I always thought the mantra was "buy low, sell high", including with real estate. So even if it helped in the short term, it's conceivable these investors could return to their home countries with a lot of cash once the market corrects.

@Irishk,
The market is not going to "correct" any time soon. Many current homeowners are not paying their mortgages, and the housing market stinks whether we look at new construction or existing homes for sale.

While the job market continues to struggle, not many people will be in the market to buy.

Damn straight, Irishk. More power to foreign and domestic investors who conclude that sectors of the real estate market have hit bottom and are possibly going to rebound. If they are willing to put their own money on the table rather then the banks - who tend to be unwilling to lend - more power to them.

@cicerone imposter,
Also, has the market even 'bottomed-out' yet? Some patient investors might be waiting for that to happen.

I looked up the Senators who are up for reelection in 2012 and out of the 10 Democrats listed in my previous post there are seven who'll be seeking another term:

Nelson, Klobuchar, McCaskill, Tester, Nelson, Menendez, and Manchin.

@realjohnboy,
I wish the dumb banks would stop trying to nickele and dime us to death. We sure have to stay on the alert to fight back. No more debit card, it's cash from now on, for all those little items like food, clothes, movies, etc. Pay the bills, take the rest of it in CASH. Jeeez, I'm not used to carrying money around, though. They sure make it tuff for us, no?

@Pemerson,
Welcome to this thread, Pemerson. I don't believe we have seen you here before.
I have ranted before about debit cards. It is so easy to whip one of those suckers out to satisfy every whim. If you just rely on a small amount of cash in your pocket, though, the spending ends when it is gone.

Her Gracious Majesty is a biological organism and predicting how much time She has left is for actuaries.

If you mean the Monarchy then it has plenty of time to go yet and I would advise you Yanks to get yourselves one as soon as you can arrange it.

@Irishk,
Generally speaking - if we rely on history - Americans have done better under democratic administrations and congress. The stock market depends a great deal on what's happening in the world economies, and understanding macro-economics is a good educator. I have predicted more than a year ago that the US stock market will get hit with about a 30% downturn this year, and that the price of bonds were going to drop along with an increase in interest rates. I've been wrong about that, and paid a bit by shifting $75k last June from bonds to equity. No matter; as of today's closing, I'm still ahead for the year.

When I look at the economies of the countries I have visited during the past 12-months, and see the pricey restaurants and bars full, it makes me wonder what percentage of the economies are those still spending money at those establishments. For example; two months ago in Sydney, many of the pricey restaurants and bars were packed in the Rocks area. We paid $50 for fish and chips and a beer; the place was at capacity. Sure, we had the view of the Opera House, but still... These mixed messages are just confusing me more and more.

There are several bank failures every week, and the big banks are not making the kind of money they were from lending. They're up to no good, and starting to charge fees to use our on money by debit cards. The feel of desperation is in the air.

@cicerone imposter,
$50 for fish and chips and a beer is not confusing. It's criminal.

@spendius,
Bondi, Sydney, is one of Australia's tourist meccas. The Rocks is at Bondi.

$50 for a sit down meal and beer is not indicative of the usual cost in Australia, but for Bondi, pretty standard.

It seems to me that she may have ingested some magic mushrooms because she does not seem to be in touch with reality from what I observe in this video!

@reasoning logic,
A carefully edited 3 minute video is not something I am prepared to draw any serious conclusions from. Whilst that profitable shite was going down there were millions of people in England pottering about in their gardens now that the recent inclement weather has buggered off.

Post Office vans all over the country were delivering packages of bulbs for planting now in order to provide a nice colourful display in the borders next spring when winter is slowly receding into the distant enclaves of everybody's memories.

It's a sign of narcissism rl when you give too much significance to what you happen to be looking at. Basically, you have found a way of getting attention by going around claiming that we are cracking up.

Imagine a camera going over all those gardeners like in that movie the name of which I can't spell, Koyana--something.

You don't want to do you? You might find out that having to go around saying we are not cracking up bores everybody and forces you to think of something interesting or lose all your friends.

How do you know whether it was all staged or not. Rent a mob. Actors and actresses between parts. $A50 a day, two free hamburgers, as much tea as you can drink, cheap beer, a special area to have a smoke in and a few bottles of diluted tomato ketchup. An exercise for the cops. That video might be a composite from all the various takes. Your great country is world famous for showing the rest of us the best way to do that.

And anyway, what Her Gracious Majesty said had been written for her and approved by both Governments. She doesn't even need to know what any of it means. She was probably thinking about whether her best horse needed a final gallop before the big race. She knows how much the public love a Royal winner. And she knows how to give the folks back home a good laugh.

If She ever has to make an address to the USSC in a set-piece designed by the hosts to increase the awe of the institution they would get the most fine-honed wits in the Kingdom to compose it.

Think real people rl. Images are deceptive. They used to be banned on pain of death. No humane injections.

Your eyes are your window on the world and not a screen. You should listen to the world with your ears and not with a speaker. The more hi-tech the speaker system the more is the danger.

@reasoning logic,
David Icke was thrown out of The Green Party in the UK when he started ranting on about how the queen was a shape changing alien reptile. I would take everything he has to say with a huge pinch of salt.

Of course you will have many people out of touch with reality, "It took the average believer group a 1,00o years to understand the earth rotates!

Observations are not everything but you do have to admit they are more reliable than just believing.

You can believe anything you want to, that is the fun in believing!

One only needs to live in the world and question it to find out that they are lied to!

Ok I think that I can somewhat trust you because you have never giving me reason to doubt you!

I do think that this is one of his moments where he is actually correct!
If you think I am wrong about him getting this one correct then share with me what he is wrong about! Idea

@reasoning logic,
The main problem I have is that it is over half an hour long. I've got too much on to spend that amount of time watching David Icke. I have watched some of your long videos before mate and found the exercise to be similarly futile. That complete bollocks about Washington, The Vatican, and The City Of London springs to mind. If you would like to write down the main points Icke is making in the video, I'll be happy to comment, but I'm not watching it.
