This is only a pale glimpse of our finacial institutions!

This week Max Keiser and co-host, Stacy Herbert, discuss whether BrianMoynihanSucks.com or BrianMoynihanBlows.Com as Bank of America breaks into womans home and steals her dead husbands ashes. In the second half of the show, Max talks to journalist and author, Afshin Rattansi about a Brave New World in which airports fail to cope with an inch of snow and cabinet ministers dance like C-list celebrities on popular television shows.

Here is an interesting article, that the federal government has acquired thousands more buildings. Why? And Obama promised he would have the government assess and get rid of unnecessary properties. This does not seem to show that he has kept his promise. In fact, he is apparently doing the exact opposite.
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/12/30/despite-push-purge-inventory-feds-added-real-estate/

"The federal government picked up thousands of new buildings in 2009, a real estate spree which raises questions about the Obama administration's commitment to savings billions by shedding excess property.

....

While the administration claims it's making serious headway toward that goal, a recent inventory from the Federal Real Property Council showed that 2009 was a banner year for gaining -- not selling -- federal property. "

@okie,
Maybe, it was a good time to buy property when most prices were depressed.

Hey Bill and ci, my post with the real news report had all the sources. Either you can't read or you are intentionally lying. And by the way, some of us have learned that real news reports do not have to be written by the liberal press. News is not always a liberal editorial that you are used to reading.

Now, I challenge you both, if you can find any data to refute the news reports and evidence I posted, be my guest. Otherwise, your comments are useless.

Are you getting senile? My post had the source. Can you even read? See my above post as well, addressed to both you and Bill.

But "maybe" the government does not need any more property, and "maybe" Obama promised to get rid of property, not get more? Actually, that was more than a "maybe." But of course those possibilities never crossed your mind, did they?

How do you know all this? Have you considered and learned the reasons why? Or, are you guessing like always - with your negative outlook?

Maybe so, but do you want the federal government in the real estate speculation business? I don't even want them in the automotive business.

I did not read the article, by the way.

I have noticed that of course you have not yet offered any conflicting evidence to counter the news story I posted, have you ci? Instead, you continue to call names and denigrate my intelligence.

I don't know why I continue to tolerate your nonsensical posts, ci, but here goes. I am sure roger is aware of HUD, as everyone should be. HUD is not the issue here, as we already know about them. The issue is regarding the government increasing their real estate holdings, contrary to what Obama promised.

How? Do you have a computer with internet access? I assume you do, because you post here. Try typing in "government property inventory" or similar things, maybe "Federal Real Property Council" into various search engines and see what you can find. I will also give you the link to the news story that I posted before, which included their sources of information to write the story. Try actually reading the story and following their sources and links. That can be your homework for today. Let me know later what you find.

@okie,
You have the same access; show us the evidence in support of your claim>? You're the one who's making the claim, not me. It's up to you to prove your claim; not me.

All you are doing is parroting what FOX News shows. You are brain dead; you have no "personal" opinion that you can support.

FOX News is known to lie. The balls in your court.

Wow.. what a lot of sound and fury over nothing.

The story isn't about the Fed government buying real estate. Buried in the story is this

Quote:
That's 71 million more square feet than it had in 2008, most of it in the form of leased property.

So. the Federal government is SELLING buildings but increasing the number of leased spaces.

I thought it was a good thing for them to not own stuff but instead lease it as needed. But not in RW World I guess.

@parados,
You did better than ci, parados, an interesting thing about leased property. However, does leasing property actually make any sense? It doesn't seem real smart in my opinion, as leasing cars would be a similar thing, which ends up costing taxpayers more money than buying the cars.

I cannot help but notice what goes on around me where I live now part of the time, which included the BLM and Forest Service building a bigger newer building, or maybe they leased it, I'm not sure, but it was built for them anyway. Meanwhile, the amount of public land they manage is not more, and there would be no need to hire more bureaucrats for their office but they very well might have. They do this but can't even service their own campgrounds like they used to, they instead hire camp hosts to do their dirty work.

@okie,
The story by FOX is either deceptive or idiotic okie.

What is the story about okie? Is it about the number of buildings the Federal government owns or is it about the number of buildings the Federal government occupies? The story by Fox confuses the 2 either intentionally or out of stupidity. I can't tell which but you don't seem to understand the difference and happily lap up the stupidity as evidence of something which it isn't.

FACT - The Federal government owns fewer buildings in 2009 than 2008
FACT - The purpose of selling Federal buildings is to reduce the cost of upkeep on those buildings.

When you do the research and see the actual report, you see a much different story and the facts left out by FOX News.

Total building assets which went up by 23,000 has a note that FOX ignored

Quote:
May include multiple leases in one building.

In reality the number of structures went DOWN by 7000.

So what happened is the Federal government has consolidated into fewer buildings by leasing more space and those new leases are all counted separately. FOX News only reported that while ignoring the decrease in the number of buildings

The other item FOX News failed to report is that 67% of the Government square footage are used by the Army, Navy, Air Force and Veteran's administration.
