I remember when the Doobies appeared to connect with The Isley Brothers around 73. The Doobies released a track from 3+3 as a single, Listen to the music, and, sacrilegious as it may seem to say so, the Doobies did a better version of it.

Their next hit in the UK was another old Isley's song from the 60's Take me in your arms [rock me a little while], although I have to say that I do think that The Isley's did a better job of the latter song. Smile

The Waterboys - "The Pan Within"
Joy Division - " The Eternal"
Jeff Buckley - "Grace"

oh, and smorgs...sorry to be picky but New Order don't deserve the blame for "Getting Away With It". It was Electronic....featuring a Smith, a Pet Shop Boy and a New Order guy. The worst song New Order ever did was that really dodgy one they did for the football !!

Angel From Montgomery was a beautiful song when John Prine sang it. Bonnie Raitt gives it her own world-weary sound.

This would be easier if it was the top3 dozon, and then I change so much acording to mood and genre, so I'll try some thing that;s narrower and static, My three most beautiful melodies.

Sophisticated Lady

Herb Magidson(The Masquerade) was a wonderful song writer and was the first recipient of a musical Academy Award for The Continental.
Billie Holiday does my fave version.
