does anyone know the name of our solar system?

can anyone tell me if our solar system has a name and if so what it is? i cant find this info anywhere!

It's called "The solar system". While scientists have been able to discover planets circling around stars other than our own, they haven't found anything to compare to the solar system, so there has never been a reason to name it anything else.

But there is a strong rumor it's soon going to be officially named The American Express Solar System.

Just as our sun is "sun" (or "sol") our solar system is our solar system.

The galaxy that our solar system is in may have a name.

Milky Way.

Though as cjhsa's excellent link notes, technical writers on the subject (of which my husband is one) just say "the Galaxy".

Actually I think is Sol's system and it's in the Micky Way Galaxy (after the candy bar--not the mouse).
