@cicerone imposter,
Do not balk at any chance to make the US look bad. Mother Jones is an American hating smear machine. And from the UN? Laughing Laughing Laughing

We should get a "A" for talking about it. Look at the policies that put us there. The last 8 years was meant to cripple this country. That you and others revel in this crap is what will stop you from taking the House.

@coldjoint,
According to Quora, Mother Jones has a high level of accuracy in facts. Much better than your posts which probably rates as an "F."

Charity begins at home, we need to be helping our own firstly!! We do not even do that!!! Look at how much help vets get sometimes nothing & they served the country!!

@Agent1741,
My sister and her husband live a very modest life, and she tells me god will help them with their needs. That upsets me to no end, but I help them once in awhile with a little bit of support.

The United Nations Disseminates Absurd Lies about Poverty in America

Quote:
But if you look at the fine print at the bottom, you’ll discover that the chart on child poverty doesn’t actually measure child poverty. Instead, the bureaucrats at the OECD have put together a measure of income distribution and decided that “relative poverty” exists for anyone who has less than 50 percent of the median level of disposable income.

In other words, the United States looks bad only because median income is very high compared to other nations.

Smoke and mirrors. This thread is now debunked.

@cicerone imposter,
Haven't looked at this specific report but most every report/study I have seen trashing the US puts way too much weight on out of pocket healthcare costs as a way to drive us to the bottom. Sure we could do better, but when a family of 5 is getting subsidized insurance making twice the median household income while 5 million working poor people are locked out of medicaid and subsidies, I wouldn't hold out too much hope we will do better as long as there are more likely voters to be bought off.

@StiofanM,
I agree. It's really a shame that the country that spends the most of medical care can't cover all of our people.

I’ve deleted earlier tweets indicating that Nikki Haley, U.S. Ambassador to the U.N., had said only 250,000 Americans are in “extreme poverty.” The U.S. Permanent Mission to the United Nations and International Organizations in Geneva had said this.

Just ran across this. 250,000 in extreme poverty is bad but is not bad out of 320-30 million. I wish that was the number for another large group I know of.
