What we liberals lack is the ability to make outrageous statements (see the recent USA Next ad which depicts the AARP as both anti-US Soldier and --get ready--- pro-gay marriage) and then sit blithely by as if any of it were true, replying to criticism by saying "They can run, but they cannot hide." Run from what? Uh.

We are in a street fight here in America.

gotta go

That's just not true Joe. I think you are spending too much time watching Fox News and ignoring the garbage that gets spewed from the left side of politics.

f9-11 is a good example. It's full of outrageous statements claiming to be true.

There's not a conservative in sight on this thread.

All social engineering,or attempts at it,are socialist. Some might say communist but I wouldn't because I know how sensitive Americans are about a word like that.

A true conservative is a tolerant, easy going, idle, couldn't care less good for nothing. He would never dream of voting for somebody who wanted power. And the non-voters won our last election by a street. They did yours too.

Socialist parties always have two wings fighting each other. The hard left wants to control everything and the soft left is prepared to allow citizens to choose what colour to paint their front door. The narrowness of the divide is inversely proportional to the plangencyof their deliberations.

It's all an accident of conception and socialisation.

I don't have time now to read all this good stuff....but I'm delighted to find it here. I'll catch up later today.

But I've decided to practice, a so-far-unnumbered- PR technique. I've lost count on the numbers...........but today, I'm going to practice it. Here it is: Repeat a phrase over and over until it becomes a reality.

I'm going to, from here on out, refer to the conservatives of today, that is Bush's conservatives, as anti-enlightment. This nation was, after all, founded on the principles of the Enlightenment, not on Religion. I'll post that link later. Gotta go for now.

But let's all give it a try. From now on, we won't say "conservative" or "hard right" anymore. Let's refer to them only as anti-enlightenment. Goooood practice.

Pretty much the Age of Anti-Enlightenment. Can we use facist instead of hard right? Maybe as long as liberal is equated with socialist or communist. Jefferson was true to the liberal cause but he also didn't believe government should be in cahoots with big business to deceive and trounce on the individual citizen. Has anyone read that law regarding CEO's signing off on their financial statements? An attorney's masterpiece of loopholes -- nobody will go to jail in any prosecution based on that law. As long as we have government-by-attorney, we will have the kind of government we deserve.

I'm surprised at Bernie's post.

I thought he'd been hatched by the heat of the sun.

Not at all unlikely, given the available evidence. However, birth, even if resultin' from parthenogenesis and/or external gestation, entails a direct female parent. What else but "mother" would one term such an antecedent?

Well, there is the example of the fern. Both mother and father. But it sounds so unexciting, I perfer the animal way.

But Bernie's mother is doing fine now. He sprayed her with a mixture of tetracycline and mineral oil and she's resting peacefully.

But we're supposed to be arguing. No fair getting too nice.

CRANKY CADMAN

At the time this was written Wednesday afternoon, Rep. Bill Cadman, R-Colorado Springs, still hadn't forthrightly apologized for warning a colleague Tuesday on the floor of the House, "If you try that again, I'll ram my fist up your ass."

Instead, Cadman was splitting hairs. He insisted the responsibility was reciprocal: The fellow he'd threatened, Rep. Val Vigil, D-Thornton, should have to apologize, too, because Vigil had told Cadman he was "garbage." In fact, Cadman suggested, Vigil should apologize first, presumably because he'd "started it," to use the playground lingo appropriate for these two legislative titans.

Well, of course Vigil should have apologized immediately, too. But an individual's responsibility to do the right thing is not contingent on others acting first. What is shocking is not only Cadman's reluctance to express regret but the fact that he wasn't absolutely mortified by what he'd stooped to say. It would never occur to most people to use such an expression even in private, no matter how incensed they were over an affront, let alone utter such words in public before other elected officials.

With Tuesday's outburst and its aftermath, Cadman has revealed himself as a sanctimonious loose cannon - someone to whom it might be wise to give a wide berth.

Thanks Lola for a wonderful thread. I have just laughed my entire way through it. The amazing part is who takes this seriously and who is having fun with it.

The funniest part was to read the ongoing discussions then the personal takes of what it really meant.
the first take -
Liberal : said this
Conservative : said that

Then the take from the other side:

Liberal : did not say this
Conservative : did not say that

did too, did not, yes you did, no you didn't, yes, no.. and your mother sucks rocks. It reminded me of an old WB cartoon. Is Daffy the conservative and Bugs the liberal? That must be it. Daffy is too uptight to be a liberal and Bugs is too lazy to be a conservative.

McG - you need to get a sense of humor. An online blog attacking bloggers for being innaccurate? I see satire and you seem to see an attack on your politics.

One thing for sure. This is a "chicken or the egg" discussion. Both sides use the same tactics because both sides are made up of people of varying skills and intelligence. And then, just when we think we have the answer, the chicken will lay an egg or the egg will hatch into a chicken. I'll leave the rest of you to figure out which numbers I covered because I am too busy counting my unhatched chickens.

Yeah? ... well, your Mother wears combat boots. Laughing

Actually, McG has a good sense of humor ... and I appreciate it when it shows. Since it is typically aimed directly at a liberal, I can understand liberals not necessarily finding it all that humorous. Liberals also don't seem to find Ann Coulter funny, yet I find her hilarious.

Mother jokes? Oh great here comes the racism...

Liberals think Franken is funny but Conservatives think Rush is a source of truth. If that doesn't make you stop and think about what's wrong with the world, nothing will.

As for Ann Coulter's comedy, she does for insanity what Foster Brooks did for alcoholism.

When Franckin does comedy he is funny. He is a great comedic writter. When Frankun does politics, he is droll.
