Hey any car experts out there I need some help;
I have a 2002 Ford Escort that I just got out of the shop but I am still having problems... I can start the car and drive it for about 10 minutes and then it will die... I can start it back up and drive it for about 3-4 minutes and then it will die again... By the third time I cannot start the car up.. when you turn the ignition it sounds like it wants to turn over but it will not... I had the air control valve replaced, engine coolant checked and filled along with several other things... Does ANYONE have an idea what could be causing this!!!
Frustrated and Broke!
Wish I could offer a clue. If the engine would crank, but not run, I would be guessing fuel filter or catalytic converter. How does the electrical system behave when it fails to turn the engine over? I mean, do the horn and headlights come on, nice and strong? It almost sounds like two things going on at once.
2002? Any chance there is warranty coverage on this?

Warranty has expired.... When i try to turn the car on the everything lights up strong.... all the lights on my panel light up... do you think it is the converter.... how much might I be looking at?
Actually, I doubt it's the converter. A bad converter would cover running for awhile, dying, and restarting. It doesn't explain why the engine won't crank with an otherwise strong electrical charging system. Same objection applies to a clogged fuel filter.
Very much off the top of my head, an installed converter is worth around $500.00, but it's a good idea to install an oxygen sensor, or whatever Ford uses at the same time. In other words, you can't replace it on general principles. I understand the word Broke well enough.
Sorry I couldn't help. Maybe someone with more specific ideas will drop in.
I owned a Ford one time an Escort and had very bad electrical problems which teh mechanic couldnt figure out. The care would run and then start jumping up and down shaking and making the car stall a little. Mechanic never figured it out.
Anways I found complaints againts Ford for all makes/models to browse at
