I LOVE the SR-71 - it's a thing of sheer beauty!

Time and time again I've seen it take off - it uses up a LOT of runway - with a tiny little (in comparison) F-16 chase off its wing.

Clicked, and fascinating reading from everyone.

Serious computer problems still, crashing left and right and some evidence of hardware (memory) failure. That will screw me as there are no funds to fix this thing.

Saw fascinating piece on Wednesday night's "60 Minutes" about the specifics of how they imprinted and trained the whooping cranes to follow the ultra-light airplane from Wisconsin to Florida, to learn their migration route.

Piped sounds of ultra-light into their boxes right after birth, people dressed up in white sheets and hoods (like KKK) with white puppets on hands and arm (with red on top), to show them how to peck and eat. And, of course, to follow.

When they are in flight it is a wonder to see the photos with the cranes stringing off the two wing tips, like strings of pearls.

These people have raised from egg a HUGE number of the world's population of whoopers, taken them via ultra-light airplanes to Florida when they are five months old. Next spring, they come back all on their own. One time is enough. Jeesh.

And, I suspect the ultralight came from the factory in a sort of curiously round package from some place named Ork.

Oh my gosh, I'm gone for a couple of weeks and here is a new thread already on page 27! What good reading, danon cooking, planes flying, bird personalities and ehBeth spinning and dancing to start the thing off with elan.

Clicked, with vigor.

hmmm, attempting to alter a migrating imprint that exists called "brainwashing".

The return trip should be interesting.

I feel terrible. Hadn't clicked for two days. Was unable to get online Tuesday and Wednesday due to a major telephone snafu in my neighborhood. Two entire city blocks were w/o phone service from about 2:30 a.m. Tuesday to about 6 a.m. today. Still don't know whether it's the snowstorm Tuedsay that caused it or something else. Back to normal now. Hi, all.

Hi all. And snort re Ork. Stradee, they already have made the return trip by themselves. Some have for many years now. Gone and come back, that is. Unless I misunderstood you.

sumac, my response <animal scientific experimentation> sardonic.

Just a good thing the cranes didn't run into a strobe though... lol

Teeny, Danon didn' t designate a theme in the opening paragraph of #57.

Reading the posts, you can get an idea of how the rainforest threads kinda
work. We may get an idea of a subject reading what someone else posted, or if there's an enviornmtental issue you find interesting and want to share, you're welcome to post the story and or your thoughts.

These links may be helpful. They're from the last few rainforest threads here at a2k. The first link is #55 then 54, 53, & 52. <the original threads 1 thru 51 - were posted at the abuzz forum>

Teeny, many of the wildclicker group are 'silent' clickers, although we sure appreceiate it when people stop by and say 'howdy', also.

I didn't know that. I received a reply from #57, but the page wouldn't load. Came back, "page not found". I'm going to go to the top of this page to see if my reply went through. Thanks for the rest of the links. Cool
I guess, I though these threads were subjected like Abuzz and aimoo. Sorry!

Teeny, on the top of the page on the left, click "your posts".

When the page loads, you'll see a list of the threads you've interated in.

You won't see the rainforest thread #55 <not sure if you were registered at a2k when ehBeth started thread " 55-A pyramidal number - the rainforest, the world and us". If you read the first post, you'll get an idea of the theme of the thread. Same with #56.

It just depends on who begins a new thread and what they'd like to add.

ehBeth or Danon will say "ok, new thread" - and everyone waits for ehBeth or Danon to begin one. LOL Piffka started one of the threads "Rainforest Third Curtain - Wildclickers Unite, and also posted a pole at the beginning of the thread. Had no idea what the heck she was talking about, but joined in anyhooo. Laughed a lot, another rainforest thread success. <they all are>

Sumac, you must be hangin' with Edgar Cayce!! Okay -so I am dropping in to say "HI" to all you WILD and MILD Clickers. Hey crew, looks like you are still pulling your weight on the leaderboard. Good going.

I've been over to post a couple of time before, but my post goes into the ether. (I don't think I have Spam-breath??)

Good to see you good people again. I don't have much time to post as a regular. Sad On the happier note, I am working more. Smile

So, I send all my buddettes and buds my very best wishes and lots of hugs.

ww :-)

"Howdy" :wink:

 "Howdy" from me, too! On Saturday, this area was buzzed 8 times. We are not in a flight path, although there is one to the left or west of my building. Hadn't seen anything like it since 911. I am 55 miles south of NYC and this happened, also after 911, when no planes were supposed to be in the air. The residents of this 15 story building, were scared witless when 2 jets were "hot-dogging" along the coast, (Atlantic), which is only 4 blocks from me. They were so close to our building, I was sure they would hit one of the many high-rises here! Scary! When this large jet came by on Saturday, I couldn't help but think of September 13, when this happened in 2001. What a world we live in, when so-called "civilized" people act up in such a derogatory fashion. The jets are flown out of McGuire AFB, in So. Jersey. Th police dept. here had them reprimanded for frightening an already jittery public. Like I said, a world!
