Imposter, I will shock you with this statement: I AGREE WITH YOU. We will go on believing what we do and so will you and I respect that. You all stick to your "guns" so to speek. This is what makes our country great.

"Does religion have a place in the future of humankind?"

My God, I hope not.

I think Rex single-handedly demonstrates the in-evitable future of religion and mankind.

Feel free to take that as a compliment if you wish Rex.

Erymil, why so upset at the outcome of this post?

I personally love the diversity of views, and I think it's quite OK for readers to judge the posts (and the posters) for themselves.

As for Rex, he helps me to understand people like him and as you point out, they pop up often enough with forceful (if wrongheaded Wink )arguments that we need to learn to deal with.

The question you have posed is the question I want asked. I'd like to see it asked more often, and more openly.

You and I are often seem to be in close agreement, I would council sitting back and enjoying the fireworks.

Let's theorize for a second...let's say that there is really a god...ok...what the heck would it take for him to make you atheists believe...short of just showing himself to you?

Now, that's a thought. Him showing up "again." I'd say he's a fraud. There ain't no such animal. FYI, many homo sapiens in the past (and maybe present) have claimed to be a god. They were all fakes too!

That's the hangup many religious people have; they think god is gonna show up and take them up to heaven. "Heaven" is a man-made utopia that doesn't exist in reality.

It is not the belief in God that is a problem. It is the phony and divisive religions that have been invented supposedly dedicated to his worship. They preach peace, harmony and tolerance and cause war, disharmony and intolerance.

Who's war? You surely are refering to the Muslim religion. Has Christianity ever cause a full scale war?

Please show me logic and reasoning to back up that statement(the last part).

That's not what I meant, I mean showing himself in all of his eternal godliness, not as a human.

You can not separate religion from it's practitioners.

Is it possible to have a perfect idea and people who try to follow it?
