Well, then, good for you, calamity.

Certainly I am afraid one or more persons could be popular for their looks.

Do you not know that we are not all dreamy looking? Do you not have any clue people could worry about not being, er, sexy?

Most of the responses are about how cute/sexy etc anyone is. This is a wider world here, and I for one am interested in wider angles.

I don't mean that you aren't. I am trying to open the envelope.

osso, in a forum setting like this, or wider world as you put it, why would anyone worry about their physical appearance? Every day we physically see people that are more attractive, thinner, smarter, more humorous and the list goes on. People at a2k tend to be more sugar coated, thus
the sweet comments towards the pictures. No harm done.

One might get worried if the job offer goes to someone more attractive
as opposed to more qualified. These things happen, but why worry
in a forum where a written word has so much more impact than our
mirror image.

Your interest in wider angles is certainly given at a2k, there are plenty
of sub categories and plenty of subjects to talk about, however, not
every thread can be to everyone's liking. I for one stay out of them,
if I don't like the subject.

once in a while I get snappish. I have little patience for the reign of the sexy foxy foo foos-are us.

Not that we aren't sexy or foxy or foofoo, but geezlouise, it isn't all that we are.

Calamity, the subject here is one's photo.
As you know, since it is your topic.

I want all a2kers to feel welcome, even if they aren't feeling their sexyist, thinnest, most enchanting, so as to be okay.

panzade, you could have done your homework Wink

osso, and since most (not all) people in this thread have been
around a2k a lot longer than I have, it is safe to assume,
they must feel welcome.

Again, I do understand what you're saying, but if no one
would be interested in a photo thread, it wouldn't be 37 pages
long.

Your perception in this is not necessarily shared by all.

Nor is yours, Calamity.
We are many here, and most of us are interested in what other a2kers look like, but many around the forum are reluctant to put photos up.

I am sad if that is news to you.

Many are (let me go ahead and presume) afraid of being some kind of target for some fun thread. That isn't likely, as even we on a2k have limits, but people are afraid of that.
I got shut up when I whined about a thread about midgets.
I got to be the weird one, questioning that.

What you see in the most posts here are people with the strongest sense of self at the time of day.

but this is a larger community and some folks who don't post much might actually enjoy and be enriched by venturing to post a photo.

I'd like them to feel they have room.

social pressure is great (look at eating disorders amoung young females in the US)

even though this is cyberspace feelings are written on these pages and understood differentily by everyone

You know osso, you're the only one who's complaining
about this thread and trying to bring it down to a level,
where only you stand.

I won't feel bad about opening this thread, as my intentions
were nowhere near your assumptions that people feel
intimidated and assumed they're not welcome here.

Whatever you feel, is not what's being felt in this thread,
on the contrary - it was quite pleasant until you dragged
it down.

I appreciate you being outspoken - so am I,
but I refuse to be made responsible for your being utterly crabby today.

husker, did I demand that everyone must show their picture?
Everyone reveals as much of themself as they want to. If they don't
feel comfortable with it, they shouldn't.

To make me responsible for people not feeling comfortable and
not welcome is quite far fetched.

I actually will ask Craven to close this thread,
I'm quite disgusted now of the outcome due to one person.

I don't mind hearing craven's pov.

He is smarter than both of us together.

If he wants to close it, ok. Can't see why, my self.
