Have been reading through the last few pages of this thread. Sorry, I haven't read parts of the middle. But yes, I agree with you osso, you wouldn't post your photograph unless you looked semi-OK. You also wouldn't do it unless you felt confident that your online friends would respond positively.

I missed the whole conversation about looks. I just want to say that I think there are people here that are beautiful because of their thoughts and ideas -- just as there are a few that I think are ugly for their postings -- and the pictures are kind of secondary. It's cool to see what people look like, but the ones that I already think are beautiful could post a picture of a monkey's ass and I'd still think they were beautiful. Likewise, the ones that I think are ugly will remain ugly, even if they post a picture that looks like a supermodel.

I can add my 2 cents to this too......


Obviously, with the group that is attending this thread regularly, NOONE stops chatting / posting with someone else because of thier looks.
It is apparent to me that looks mean nothing in the big circle of communication on A2K . I dont believe there is a person here who is that arrrogant to do so.
This thread is ment to share if you want, peek at those who have and sort of give a fun thought to " that isnt how I pictured you??" It isnt ment to define, as our posts have done that WAY before our pictures hit the website.
Unfortunatly, there WILL be people who judge after they see a picture, and jump to conclusions about a person, but from what I have seen, those people are not the ' regulars' and frankly.. those are the ones who count. ;-)

I've never seen a forum that goes off topic so much. Post a new f'n thread if you want to talk about how looks make you "popular" on a message board(man, what a lofty goal in life)!

If you don't feel comfortable with your picture, don't put it up, nobody cares. And nobody is going to openly mock another if they're not good looking. The ONLY time that is allowed, is if someone said "oh, I'm SO hot, check me out," and they were disgusting.

Again people: it's the INTERNET. Relax.

Back to pushing envelopes. Proceed with the pictures. In the meantime, I bring you dogs wearing hats:

Those that post for validation will get it from at least one person here. Those that post just because will get validation from at least one person here. Those that post because they think they are hot will get validation from at least one person here. Those that post but are nervous because they think they are unattractive will get a positive reaction from at least one person here. Why? Because there are so many caring and thoughtful people on this site. I don't think this thread was meant to be a beauty contest. I am very critical of my pictures. I can be incredibly photogenic or terribly not. But I guess, the way I see it, is if people don't like me yet here, forget about you anyway. If you are going to treat me differently because you think I am ugly, I don't want to talk to you anyway. Just because I don't find someone attractive doesn't mean I will treat them differently now. Looks make a difference, I won't say they don't, but not after you've gotten to know someones personality first. At least not with me. If I like you now, I will like you later; Hideous monster or super model.

EDIT: Spelling
