here are some pictures i took about two weeks ago when we had a beautiful fall day .
it's been raining almost every day since then - i can launch a boat in our backyard !
perhaps november will bring us "indian summer" ?
the pictures were taken in "fairfield park" , one of the many parks along the shores of lake ontario . this one is just a ten minute drive from our place and it is a favourite place for bailey and cleo when they come to visit - many trails of raccoons , squirrels and skunks to be sniffed out and followed .
the highlight is usually to find a fish carcass - the stinkier the better - and roll around in it  .

the park is the "eastern gateway of the loyalist parkway" . many "loyalists" landed here after coming by boat across lake ontario from new york . the families of the original "loyalist settlers" carry the letters "U.E.L" after their family names (denoting "united empire loyalist") .
this is "fairfield house" , originally a stagecoach stop and inn between montreal and york (today : toronto) . it is now a historical site and museum .
