Oh yeah, that one of my butt is lovely, indeed! <egads>

Tit for tat - Dasha getting friendly with the moose. It really was a lovely afternoon wanderfest. We tailed the blue heron around the little pond 1.5 times.

Oh, lil'k, you know the a2k boys are going to dig that view of you! Wink

It's cute. And it looks like what I was wearing today, and the way I was wearing my hair, too...could be me from the back!

Yeah, huh? I just didn't have a belt on, but other than that! (and the half-back hair only lasted part of the day, now it's just a ponytail. Very Happy ) I guess we've just got the high fashion market cornered on a2k between the two of us, eh?

[whistle, whistle, whistle]

Okay, so how do you get that close to a blue heron?

Cypher - If I hadn't had that belt on, that photo wouldn't be publishable!

Reyn - that heron was odd. It was very comfy with people. It flew froma roller blader once, but not the next times he went around. Dogs were being walked, people were stalking it (some talking loudly), cars were driving by.... I think it has simply become used to the steady stream of people who visit that cemetery.

We had some night herons hanging out nearby. I passed them on my commute this summer. I'd never seen them before. They're unusual looking birds and it's odd to see herons flock.

Forest Hills Cemetery has outdoor art installations through out the grounds. While I often shoot the plaque naming the artist, I didn't that time. I could check next time I'm there (provided I could find my way back...... wait, I could check and see if I have a pamphlet still.

It appears to be Wendy Klemperer.

WILD GEESE FLEW SOUTH TODAY. sorry for shouting, but i just love the sight of them going, unmistakable sign of winter approaching.

that photo of moose-leaping should be punishable. there must be a law about that somewhere.

THEY ARE FLYING OVER OUR HOUSE TWICE DAILY THROUGHOUT THE YEAR - some dozens are staying here all the year and change their places frequently.

I looked her up (finally). Tico's right, it's by Wendy Klemperer. More examples of her work (they're elks):

up until about twenty years ago - when winters were colder and we had more snow - the canada geese would leave about october to go south and return by early may (may 6 - my birthday - many flocks would usually find their way north) .
now most of the geese just move to the shoreline of lake ontario and hang around here all winter - some still go down to chesapeake bay .
we still see and hear them arriving from the northern regions of ontario and quebec . while they have become somewhat destructive and leave quite a mess where they settle down , they are still a sight to behold when they fly overhead .

That sculpture was reminding me of work by Deborah Butterfield...

That's redo that last post! The photo was gigantic.

Both animal sculpters remind me of an acquaintance of mine, Siri Hollander (NM).
