I do not think this is a successful shot, but I believe here is some feel of the speed..

(An egret flying in the northern part of Kyoto city.)
Fishing in Michigan this past weekend.
Mini-me is attempting to catch a minnow, so he can use it for bait, one of his favorite tactics to catch bigger fish than Dad.
That's still a great shot, satt.
cjhsa, that water looks awfully brown, are you sure the fish are edible?
Oh brother.
That stream is spring fed. The water is beautiful.
Some trout streams are red with iron. Perfectly normal.
What color would you expect a stream/river to be? Even the Merced flowing out of Yosemite is this color.
I give up.
cjhsa, sorry to hear you've decided to give up fishing...
cj, do you do fly fishing? My dad was fantastic with a casting rod, and he tied his own flies.
Sometimes. I need a larger stream than that one to fly fish because I'm not that good at flycasting.

A stream/river should be clear and clean like
THIS
That's a rocky bottomed river on an overcast day CJ.
Of course it looks different - not necessarily cleaner. You're associating brown with dirt and filth - when in my case it is iron ore, nutrients, a sandy bottom, and tree roots (cedar) coloring the water.
I don't know what you are trying to do, but it isn't funny.
Ah, C.J. Your river reminded me of the Rockfish in Virginia. Such a nice memory.
satt, we have egrets here as well. They walk around cautiously waiting for a misstep from edible creatures. I just looked out my window and saw that the pepper trees were teeming with white ibises.
Here is one in flight:
In the river that my fishing stream flowed into, I watched a bald eagle harass a heron, dive bombing the rather ticked off wader.
The eagle didn't want to eat the heron. He wanted to steal his fish.
Looked out my kitchen window one early morning and saw a gold eagle right on the ground looking straight at me with his multi-faceted eyes. I froze and he froze and it was as though we were alone in the world:
They're huge aren't they? That baldy's wingspread looked to be at least 7-feet.
I have never seen a bald eagle, cj. The gold eagle is much smaller.
Calamity, is the California condor still on the endangered list?
Walter's godchildren certainly are tow heads. Reminds me of me as a child. <smile>
Have you heard about the eagle-volture (gypaetus barbatus) ? It is the only specie of its genus. They have a length of about 40 inches with a wingspan of 98-110 inches!

)
Cool!
This is actually similar to the view of the eagle I had, while he was eyeballing the heron. He was sitting in a white pine about 30' up in the air, along the river. It's hard to find pictures of eagles with much perspective to give a feel for size. I'm betting that pine branch he's on is about 3 inches in diameter. That would make him close to 3' tall.
You know, those things poop in the rivers and streams.
Here are some of recent photos I took ..
