why press f8.?
u have to insert cd before booting, otherwise windows will load.
the cd, if it's bootable should automatically boot.
or read screen while booting, if it ask for confirmation, then press any key.
still not working, check ur cd in another pc to verify it is bootable.

Old habits, I guess. But in any event, I got it done. Just reconnected to my ISP and now to begin the process of reloading the machine.

I was interested to note two things:

1. While XP Setup loaded an ACPI Controller, I was never given the option of selecting Standard PC versus ACPI capable.

2. I was never asked whether or not I wanted the other partiion side formatted or not. Guess I will have to do that independently.

On to reinstalling, redownloading, etc., etc. Will return if I encounter any other problems. Again, many thanks.
