In the film Stage Beauty with the fab Claire Danes and the droolsome Billy Cruddup the laws went like this.
Only men could play women on stage/women on stage were banned.
Then-
Women were allowed to play themselves on stage/men were banned from playing women.
This law was passed by King Charles II.
Over here(UK) we have pantomimes at Christmas, things like Cinderella.
In these productions the Prince Charming is played by a woman and the 2 ugly sisters are played by men in drag.
Is this against the law as men were banned from playing woman?
I'm pretty sure those laws are no longer in effect...?
Bizarre laws. We have a bunch of those here in the states. I think they are technically still in effect but who really would toss you in jail for them.
I saw this site and thought you might find these laws interesting!
Bizarre Laws
How crazy are those laws!!!
I heard ages ago that no one is allowed to ride on public transport withing 3 hours of eating garlic!

My submit was taking ages so I clicked on it many a time.
It wont mess with me ever again!
btw material girl I've seen you and smorgs use "soz" kind of like "sorry" -- is that a Britishism? (Not sure what I think about my nic being an apology!!)
Yep, soz means sorry.I have no idea how it came about. maybe its quicker to text on mobiles. Its just a cute way to say sorry.
What do you mean, nic being an apology?
People here often refer to me as "soz".
Oh, gotcha.
Soz soz, Il try not to do it in the future.
Hee hee..!
How do you pronounce the apology version?
Exactly as its spelt.
'So' as in socks but with a 'z' instead of the cks.

That **** gets me in trouble. I tell some English or American person he's a "koekebakker". Asks me how you pronounce that, I say: exactly as its spelt ....
Still they dont never get it right. Hrumph.
