That should read "The Most Beautiful Girl in the World."
J i m i Hendrix, All Along the Watchtower
Marilyn Manson, Tainted Love
(Edited, to remove the goofy underlining.)
Set! How nice to see you.
The Road-Jackson Browne
Originally by Danny O'Keefe
One Bourbon One Scotch and One Beer, not quite a cover but it was definitely a variation on House Rent Boogie by John Lee Hooker.
was wondering about that. Shame on Thoroughbad for raping the blues catalogue for lucre.
Too much of nothing
Can turn a man into a liar,
It can cause one man to sleep on nails
And another man to eat fire.
Ev'rybody's doin' somethin',
I heard it in a dream,
But when there's too much of nothing,
It just makes a fella mean.
Fotheringay cover this Dylan tune with a sly arrangement.
Oh Girl-Paul Young
originally Chi-Lites
I also thought Paul Young also did a nice cover on "What Becomes Of A Broken-Hearted?", which was featured in the movie "Fried Green Tomatoes".
Nine Inch Nails - Dead Souls
Joy Division cover on the "Crow" soundtrack.
The Cure "Hello, I love you" (Doors)
Gary Jules - Mad World
The Ramones- Wonderful World
Can you believe it, it was Tears for Fears and let me tell you the cover is SO much better!
Tiny Tim and Brave Combo's version of STAIRWAY TO HEAVEN
Dolly Parton's cover is.....not too bad actually. LOL
I like Norah Jones' cover songs better than the original versions of the same songs ( or versions by other artists )
I'll be your baby tonight
Cold Cold Heart
Turn me on
Ruler of my heart
Sleepless nights
Be here to love me.
One exception is:
She also covered Tom Waits' Long Way Home which I equally like.
There is a song by folkie singer/songwriter Richard Shindell that deals with a family after some sort of disaster: the most intriguing aspect of the song is that the listener never knows whether the disaster is a conventional war, a nuclear war or even an epidemic.
Well, French folkie (one of the few) Gabrial Yacoub sings it chillingly.
Ring of fire-- covered by hblockx(german band, very good actually)
God save the Queen-- cov. by Motörhead
Wild Boys-- cov. by Atrocity (Duran Duran orig.), btw, Atrocity covered a lot of stuff, mainly german pop that you could turn into metal...
And then there's this Swiss( not swedish) band, GOTTHARD, they have a great R'n'Rcover on each album, such as "Hush", "Mighty Quinn", and other classics!
Manfred Mann's Earth Band used to cover the Boss and Dylan Very Good, waddaya say pan the man?
Yeah Travis, Manfred Mann sure changed from the days of Do Wah Diddy.
Manfred Lubowitz led the band but didn't sing on Quinn The Eskimo. He then formed the Earth Band and had a hit with Blinded By The Light which was a lot rockier than the Boss's version.
