very good, i also liked wall of voodoo's take on that song
I went to a punk and new wave party this week-end
and heard DEVO'S "Workin' in a coal mine" and
FLYING LIZARD'S "Money". Two great covers
Devo's "Satisfaction" is also very good.
My friend gave me a CD called "Lounge Against the Machine" that is really terrific. It has lounge music arrangements of faves such as "Holiday in Cambodia" and "Closer to God". It's funny and good. I put it on during dinner parties.
I love both Elvis Costello's and the White Stripe's version of "I Just Don't Know What To Do With Myself" which, I think was Burt Bacharach to begin with.
Simply Red covers David Byrne's "Heaven" and it is great.
I had to go find this CD. A year or so ago the phone company sent me this great CD (thats what happens when you pay for 10 or more phone lines, I guess). It has these chicks singing torch songs...
Stevie Nicks -- At Last
Sheryl Crow -- Good Morning Heartache
Bjork -- Gloomy Sunday
Joni Mitchell -- Stromy Weather
Etc, etc, etc.
Its a great CD.
I love Joey Ramone doing "What Wonderful World"
And the Lemonheads doing "Mrs. Robinson"
And Courtney Love doing "Gold Dust Woman"
Toad The wet Sprocket doing the Beatles "Hey Bulldog"
Arthur Lee and Love doing a killer version of Bacharach and David's "My Little Red Book"
Has anyone heard these guys? They are a bluegrass type tribute to AC/DC. Pretty funny stuff.

Bill Kirchen doing his version of Commander Cody's Hotrod Lincoln...very cool guitar riffs on this one.
I may be wrong but I always thought that Bill WAS the Commanders guitar player.
Bill Kirchen was the guitarist for CC, but he has also recorded his own version of the song and has added some very interesting guitar licks. The song I'm referring to is about 8 minutes long.
if you get a chance to check it out it is well worth the listen.
Oh, I know it. In fact I saw Bill play last time I was in Wash DC.
I haven't had the chance to see him play, but I really enjoy listening to him.
Now there's a funky Tele!

Boyz II Men
If you like cover songs you should check out Boyz II Men's new album called "Throwback". Here is a listing of the songs
1. Let It Whip
2. Let's Stay Together
3. What You Won't Do For Love featuring MC Lyte
4. Cutie Pie
5. Close The Door
6. For The Love Of You
7. Sara Smile
8. Human Nature featuring Claudette Ortiz
9. Time Will Reveal
10. I Miss You Listen
Among the few that come to mind offhand are:
1. Gladys Knight & the Pips scorching version of "Heard It Through The Grapevine";
2. An obscure group called the Silkies folk-pop version of the Beatles' "You've Got To Hide Your Love Away";
3. Peter, Paul & Mary's harmonic version of Dylan's "Don't Think Twice, It's Alright";
4. Joe Cocker's roiling version of the Beatles' "She Came In Through The Bathroom Window" <even better than his version of "A Little Help From My Friends">; and
5. Not strictly a cover, but Puff Daddy's sampled version of Led Zeppelin's "Kashmir" on his "Come With Me" from the soundtrack of "Godzilla".
I have to laugh because PP&M made Dylan palatable for me...I just didn't get it.
