If a Web address ends in ".us" [dot US], does it necessarily mean that it is the web address of a governmental entity?

I think .us is the same for the USA as .ca is for Canada, .jp is for Japan, and .au is for Australia.

As far as I'm aware, .gov is for US government websites.
