@MontereyJack,
You didn't miss anything. It's basically an extended attack on Julia Gillard for having said she accepts the science of global warming claims. So, for example, they go on and on about sea level rise not harming coral reefs, but actually benefiting them. That, of course, ignores that any significant amount of fresh water in the sea level rise will not help coral reefs. Even if it did help coral reefs, a sea level rise of just two meters, which many predict will have occurred by the end of this century will inundate most of Florida, almost all of Bangladesh, most of Vietnam, a good deal of the Indonesian archipelago, and completely sink many island nations in the Pacific. This will create hundreds of millions of refugees and flood a good deal of valuable farm land. Many of the refugees will be in Australian's neck of the woods, too. There was a good deal of sneering and witless chortling. Basically, it was a political attack.

@Setanta,
True that! Reclaimed land in Singapore and San Francisco would be under water.

@Setanta,
You poor dummy. The oceans are full of fresh water, at depth the oceans squeeze out solutes. Salt water floats on fresh water. Coral rises to a level of warm water where it stops. More cold water will sink. Coral reefs will spread out more into the shallows so stop saying the 'poor poor Great Barrier Reef' when clearly there is little knowledge about it in the USA.

Emeritus Professor Garth Poltredge, CSIRO Chief Scientist on atmospheric research; Professor of Marine Physics Peter Reid, at James Cook University; Professor of Marine Geology at James Cook University, Bob Carter; these are the panel members.

Points decided on:
1. The climate is always changing.
2. Is CO2 capable of changing the climate -yes.
3. CO2 is NOT a pollutant. It is emotionally loading the debate to say it is.
4. The insignificant warming observed is not of a long enough period to determine anything.
5. Sea level falling has killed much of the Great Barrier Reef over the last 5,000 years.
6. The only temp stressed reefs here are in water where it is too cold.
7. If the water rises there will be a explosion of coral back to previous areas.
8. David Suzuki is an idiot.
9. There are vast numbers of scientists who at least question Anthropomorphic Global Warming.
10. Most scientists who disagree with AGW are multi discipline or are retired...ie, they have nothing to lose. Many scientists are pressured for the sake of their careers to stay quiet. There is also considerable money chasing a proof of AGW, whereas there is almost no money going to the adversary.
11. Are humans responsible for an amount of significant change - No.
12. In Australia, a 5% cut in CO2 will cause an almost zero effect - 0.0038 to 0.00005 world wide.

How do you keep a straight face when you say things like that? You are just another uneducated buffoon with an opinion.

Why this ad hominem attack? if you don't agree why not giving arguments in stead of attacking the person?

but well, you know hiow it is, most an ad hominem is because of a lack of arguments. ain't it so?

@Ionus,
Um, ionus, before you aaccuse someone else of having **** for brains, you might examine your brain. You have it exaactly backward. Salt water is denser than fresh. Fresh water floatss on salt. The deep ocean isn,t fresh. 3.5% saline, much like ocean average salinity. Who's the dummy, again?

@farmerman,
Using the well known Ghyben-Herzberg and the Hubbert nonequilibrium principles, we can control coastal salt water intrusion into drinking water aquifers by using the density difference between saline and fresh water. (Fresh water floats ALWAYS)

@MontereyJack,
Seawater, or salt water, is water from a sea or ocean. On average, seawater in the world's oceans has a salinity of about 3.5%. Ocean water differs in temperature and salinity. Warm surface water is generally saltier than the cooler deep or polar waters. In polar regions, the upper layers of ocean water are cold and fresh. At the bottom of the Pacific Ocean at a depth of about 4000 meters, the pressure is about 4 x 107 N/m2. Even under this enormous pressure, the fractional volume compression is only about 1.8%. Waters warmer than 10°C dominate the sea surface but do not extend much below 500 m within the ocean; tropical and subtropical surface water provide is just a veneer of warmth over a cold ocean; typical deep ocean temperature vary from 1° to 3°C. The sharp drop off in temperature with depth is called the thermocline. The warm surface water is generally saltier than the cooler deep or polar waters. The halocline marks the drop of salinity with depth that accompanies the thermocline. The surface water warmth overrides the saltiness in governing density, so that the warm surface water regions coincide with buoyant (less dense) water. In polar regions buoyancy of the surface layer is mainly a consequence of the freshness of the surface water. Deep cold waters derive their properties at the sea surface during winter at high latitude. The discovery of the Amazon River was first made 200 miles out to sea when fresh water was observed FLOATING on the sea. Perhaps it is too complicated for someone who can only handle simple concepts. Sky is blue, trees are green, that sort of thing.

I'm surprised you have no comment on the video I posted but are prepared to make a fool of yourself over this....of course Gomer had to join in, he smelt blood and likes a easy killing, devoid of any intelligent comments on his part. As usual with you two you go at science half arsed pretending to know what you are talking about.

Well screw both of you. Read more. And Gomer, this does not involve your rock collection.

@AllBunk,
You might notice, if you actually checked, that the Weather Channel itself, the product of a number of expert meteorologists, in its official statement of purpose, totally disagrees with the anti-climate-change position of its founder. He's an anachronism. Time to retire your graphic for good. You might also note that it is a product of David Icke, the laughingztock of the UK, who believes that Queen Elizabeth and W. Bush, among others, are reptiloid alien shape shifters, not human beings, kind of indicative of the level at which Icke normally functions.
