Maybe I was feeling a bit nostalgic about days gone by, or something like that ... but for some reason (after reading an earlier thread) I started thinking of all the Oz A2Kers who have come & gone over the years ... some of whom I really miss.
Just imagine if they'd all stayed.
We'd be collective dynamite! Smile Wink

I still miss dadpad.
I wonder what happened to Mr Stillwater ... I would love to know how he's going & also to read some of his hilarious posts again!
Remember goodfielder? I liked his political posts a lot.
And Eorl. (sp? always have trouble with it! ) Rarely see him at all these days.

Anyway, I was wondering, any past Oz A2Kers you miss, too?
And how come we've stayed & they've gone?

You're implying we're addicted, Dutchy? Smile

@msolga,
I miss an abuzzer, moondoggy. I don't think I knew good fielder was an Ozzie. I miss a couple of kiwis, like aperson and kiwichick. Stilly was a legend as is eorl.

Can you remember why, asan Australian, you even found abuzz/ a2k?

@hingehead,
Oh yeah, Mr. Stillwater was a hoot. I worry about him from time to time. DadPad too, now that I think about it.

@roger,
Moondoggy did make it to a2k. Didn't stay as long as we would have liked.

Yes, yes!
Sad to talk of them all in the past tense. Sad

Yep.
A NYT addy or side bar promoting Abuzz ... something about (US painter) Edward Hopper's paintings I wanted to have my say on. I loved his work! Still do. :

So I took the plunge & joined Abuzz to do it. With great apprehension. Would my post be up to scratch, I wondered nervously?
I thought (Abuzz, being via the NYT & all ....) that this must be really high brow stuff! Smile
But I found out soon enough! .... when I visited (& promptly ran away from!) some of the craziest political posts I'd ever come across!
That was my first introduction to internet forum discussions.

So how did the rest of you Oz folk discover/become involved in Abuzz or A2K?
You too, Roger.

@msolga,
All of the above! I see Moony on Facebook where he posts prolifically, under his own name. He's a working journo now and as cool as ever.

@msolga,
I couldn't wait to sample legendary newspapers when i first went online, and the NYT was an early port of call. Somehow found Abuzz, and the rest is history.

I'm still trying to remember long-lost Oz A2K posters ....

Wasn't Odd Socks from Adelaide?
I always enjoyed her (I think s/he was a her!) posts.

@msolga,
Kiwichick hasn't posted for a while but she'll be back, often had long absences in the past. Last posted on Sat 14 May, 2011 .

@dlowan,
Weird, I read about Abuzz in a PC magazine, PC User or PC Australia, and thought I'd have a look (my job(s) has long intersected with the web and particularly the social media side - which thank you very much precedes facebook by over a decade).

I should go and have a look if I can find an archive snapshot of abuzz, there should be plenty. I even found the first web page I wrote using VI some time in 1994.

@hingehead,
Oh bum, it archives the home page but everything is code-driven by code that doesn't exist.

@hingehead,
... as I've just discovered.
The links lead nowhere!
Oh well. It was worth a try! Smile

But wow, that version of Abuzz looks so quaint, so ... minimal!

And the yellow & red Abuzz logo:
Love it!
